Annual Pass for ONE week??

That is not correct. If you are going to take advantage of AP rate room discount an adult should have the AP. The person who holds the reservation has to hold the AP.
My other suggestion is to buy one AP if you are staying onsite. when you are at WDW you can always change your passhoppers to AP. [/B][/QUOTE]

I called & asked about this very thing a month ago & was told you could reserve a romm & get the AP rate with a childs annual pass.

csmommy and Debbie...thank you for chiming in with your info. Though I've never actually purchased just one AP for a room discount, a friend of mine, who is known on another board for definitive WDW information, is the one who mentioned a child's AP can qualify for the discounts. However, I've just been denied the pleasure of telling him he's wrong!!!;)

elgerber...good point on the price of the AP over the 7 day hoppers for child vs. adult.

I have not one single regret of buying AP's for my whole family. We went last April for 11 days. That trip we exhausted ourselves. We decided to go again in December and just take it much slower. Well we got a great rate at the Poly with the AP and we love the freedom of going to whatever park whenever we want.
I figured we were pretty much done with them and had deffinatly gotten our moneys worth. But in 2 weeks DH and I will be in Orlando alone NO kids, to look at some homes in the area. ( Yes I love Disney so much I really want to live there!) And lo and behold those tickets dont expire till mid April!! We can sqeeze in some adult park time!!

So when you already have them you just never know when the opportunity knocks to be there! Good luck

Wow, do I agree with the above posts!
We bought AP's back in Sept 2000 for our first trip as a family to WDW. (We actually bought 5 day hoppers and upgraded them on the 3rd day to AP's) Well, we have always been on a budget, but some how we found the money to go on not one, but 4 trips that year!!!! We were in the parks for 25 days!!!! I regreat that we have not had the money to do that many trips the last couple of years, but we make sure we get down there at least once a year now.
One thing I have to say is that the pressure to see all of the park in one day does not exist when you have the AP's. You can be more relaxed when you go to the parks and not think, "I'm paying $50+, I want to get my moneys worth!

For us, buying AP's didn't just lead to multiple trips. We also bought into DVC! So we get more trips, and more trips. I don't think we'll be renewing at the end of August this year, though. Our plans for 2004 are another cruise!

Just do it.
Learn from my mistake.
Even if it doesn't MAKE you want to go back again within a year- you might anyway and then look at all the money you could save!

I sure wish I had bought APs when we went on our first trip. Because if I had- I would have saved a bunch of money on my last trip (solo) and on our next trip with the entire family!! It's within a year!!! But stupid me... I bought park hoppers the first time so here I go again... gonna have to buy park hoppers again for the entire family. :( (except for me. I did get smart and buy a PAP for myself on the 2nd trip that I was solo)

*sigh*

(and no, we don't plan on going back again within a year. After this next trip we are waiting atleast a year until my younger two can do more rides, my youngest old enough to go to the kid's clubs, tea party, etc.)

Kicking myself in the BUTT for not buying APs to begin with. :(
