Question: Can my son, age 15, convert a 4 day park hopper ticket to an Annual Pass, without an adult present?

Brian

That's actually an interesting question, and I don't ever recall seeing it asked before.

I can't imagine what grounds they could deny it on, but not being able to present (possibly) state identification throws an interesting twist into the question. I'm assuming that's why you're asking. He may not be able to "prove" where he lives legally, right?

I gotta be honest. I can't see them denying it, but it will be interesting to see the responses.

Will it be a regular AP or a Florida-resident AP?

If the ticket is linked to an MDE account and his biometric matches what's on file, there shouldn't be a problem upgrading to a regular AP. Will he be using cash to pay the upgrade difference?

@ravenclawtrekkie will be able to fully address upgrading.

Not a Florida resident.

So that's a little easier ... and he's on my MDE account, yes.

And, he actually doesn't have to use the ticket before upgrading. He can go to Guest Relations or a Ticket Window and the value of the hopper will be applied to an AP.

Then, the AP will be linked to him in the MDE account.

When did the requirement for at least one entitlement to be used first before upgrading any MYW ticket change?

It's been that way for quite some time. Confirmed by ticket CMs and the Ticket Sticky by @Robo located at the top of this forum has the corrected and updated info. :)

A 15 year old can upgrade a ticket to AP on his own as long as:
1) He has his own legally valid ID
2) He has a method of payment in his own name (or cash/gift card)
3) He isn't trying to use a FL Res payment contract (gotta be 18 to sign)
4) If it's DVC, he has to have a DVC card in his own name that matches his own ID

My boys have had their own state-issued ids since they were in middle school (our youngest is almost 6 ft tall - no-one believed he was a kid), and they are inexpensive and easy to get. Just go to your local dmv. Much easier than having to have the passport with them. I think it was $8 for my under 14 and $12 for my over $15. The only real difference is that the older one was happy not to have a school bus and blocks on his id...).
