Hey everybody! I am still trying to decide if the annual pass is the way to go. We are planning on spending three nights at an on-site hotel, not sure which one yet. Will I save enough in those three nights to make the AP worth while or would I be better off with the $85 tickets. We are planning on going the first week in June, probably not a weekend. I have heard of people saving 30% off regular rates, is that just during the off season? Anyone went this same week the last few years who could clue me in on savings???

If I should decide to go with AP, how far in advance should I purchase it.

I ended up getting the AAA card. It cost me only 61.00 for the year and I got pretty much the same rate as the APH plus .10 cents. Unless you plan on going more than once, then I would opt for the annual pass, but call and ask for the AAA rates and see. You can still use the AAA card for discounts all over the park and at the hotel gift shop and so on.

edit...I think if you get the annual pass now, you can get 3 months free. Im not sure about this, but we were there last week and saw billboards about it...you might want to look into that.

Usually the APH rate is 10-20% less than the rate for AAA. I suggest you getb on the loews website and then the aaa website, or call, to compare the differences.

As an example, on my next trip to RPR the rack rate is $199, the AAA rate was $159 and the APH rate was $124. Good luck.

Can I buy one annual pass and use that to get a discount on the room and additional tickets for family members?

It works this way at Disney, hopefully Universal too. Also how much does an annual pass cost?

yep....i think the preferred ap is about $179 w/ 3 months free....the power ap will have blackout dates. you can check UO website under tickets for more info

Don't forget to factor in all the other discounts you will get from a preferred AP. You get some pretty serious discounts on your food (CS and TS), as well as most merchandise.

Our passes pay for themselves pretty quick even when we don't stay on site.

CS-Counter Service?
TS-Table Service?

How do you get the discount? We got our AP last year and never used it for food?

Wait a minute....we got a 2-park Power Pass...do you get APH hotel deals with that?

not with power pass......preferred or premium

Usually the AAA rates seem better until the AP rates adjust as you get closer to your travel dates. I would buy the $85 tickets while still available and book the room at AAA rate. Then, as your date gets closer, check to see if the AP rate is better then the AAA and if the rate is good enough, upgrade one of your $85 passes to an AP. You'll pay about $100 to upgrade, so you'll have to see if the upgrade is worthwhile for a three day stay.
