Annual Pass Discount Question

We are annual pass holders. In March we got a deal on the room and were able to buy the dining plan. Is that a usual promption. We are looking to go Aug 23-27. The discounts are until Aug 14. Does anyone remember from other years?

Yes, AP holders can now book a room either with an AP discount or at rack rate and still buy the dining plan. For free dining however, even AP holders must pay rack rate on the room and buy at least one day park tickets in order to get the dining plan. Last Sept/Oct I was there during free dining, but chose to go with the AP room discount and pay for the DDP. I think the room discount at a moderate was 40% off at that time, but since I was solo that trip and didn't want that one day ticket the AP 40% off was a better deal than free dining.

AP holders and people staying on DVC points are the only ones eligible to purchase the DDP without having to buy one day tickets, and AP holders may even get the AP discounted room rate when doing so.

Do you happen to know what the current AP room discount is for the various resort levels? The four of us have GDGD vouchers, and I'm wondering if it might be advantageous for us to upgrade them to APs instead of booking a plan which requires purchasing one-day tickets to get a discount rate.

Thanks for the replies! If I book with an annual pass discount I can always buy the dining plan?? That is much better! Then I don't have to buy tickets I don't want. That's great! I thought that that was a special promotion.
Thanks,
Deanna

I just called and the price I was quoted for a preferred value room from June 10-17 was a 31% discount from rack rate online. I didn't check under the summer promo online but that's 15%, so it's still a good savings.

Didn't ask about moderate or deluxe but I'm assuming it may be more.

The current AP discount is:

30% off value resorts
35% off moderate resorts
40% off deluxe and deluxe villa resorts.
I believe it's good thru Aug. 14. I think dates now through June 3 may be a little bit more off than that.

One thing to keep in mind is that Deluxe resorts begin Value season in middle of the July while Value and Moderates stay at summer rates. With the 40% off this can make some of cheaper deluxe resorts (WL, AKL and CR garden wing) only a little bit more than the moderate resorts during late July and early Aug.

This is great information. I didn't think you could get the dining plan with AP's. We had them year ago before the DP started, and are thinking of getting them again this year (of course not with the Fl resident rate :( ). SO glad we can add on the DP if we want!!

If there are two of us, do both need AP's to add on the DP or can just one of us have an AP? And can we just add the QSDP? Sorry for the all the questions, but still mullling over a possible AP for myself since I will be there for a few more days than my DH and this might make more sense. But we'll have GAD's to upgrade so we don't want to have to buy tickets to get the DP.
