Annual Pass available for Canadians?

Hello,

Would anyone know if, as a Canadian, I can purchase an Annual Pass so that I can take advantage of the Disney Dining Experience? I called the local Disney Store in Ottawa to see if I could purchase a pass there and I was told only Florida residents can purchase Annual Passes.

Thanks for any help.

:goodvibes We have purchased AP's for the last four years. These are not Florida resident annual passes. You can either purchase a premium annual pass (which includes unlimited admission and no blackout days to all four parks, water parks, Disney Quest etc.), or a regular annual pass which only gives you unlimited admission to the four parks. We have purchased both but find that since we don't really visit the water parks it isn't worth the cost for us to purchase the premium annual pass. We've always just purchased them at Epcot guest relations upon arriving to Florida. I know that you can phone Disney and have them sent out to you as well. I also believe you can order online, although for some reason when you list your residency as Canadian you can only order the premium pass.

We wondered what we would do this year as we also want to purchase the Disney Dining Experience but aren't going to buy our AP's until we arrive. I called the DDE number and they advised me that after purchasing the AP's I can call them from our resort to order the DDE card and they will have a temp one for me to pick up the next business day at Epcot Guest Relations. Please be aware they are only open Monday - Friday during business hours. Of course you can avoid all of that by ordering the passes ahead of time and then using that voucher to order your DDE card.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

I see you live in Western Canada. How many trips a year do you take to WDW? How many trips does one need to take to make the annual pass worthwhile.... I am treading on dangerous water here....so all you dl lovers dont flame me but I already know I am going to enjoy wdw way more than dl due to ease of planning and the full Disney experience (and about 10 other reasons)......my fear is we are going to love it so much that I may actually be thinking about this also!

Thanks cdndislvr...I really appreciate your thorough answer. Would you know if an A/P is refundable at all if we decide to purchase ahead of time, but end up having to cancel the trip. I realize the year only starts from the first day you use the pass, but what if for some reason we feel we won't ever be able to make the trip? will we lose the cost of the pass? Can we order them through the disney reservation line?

Thanks again and have a great day. :sunny:

I don't believe that an AP is refundable...almost positive on that one but not 100% sure. That's actually why we wait until we get down there to buy the passes. If for some reason we cancel and don't go etc. etc. we haven't put out that money for the passes. Although it is a voucher and I'm sure we'd use it again! I think if you phone the disney reservation line they can either sell you the passes or certainly transfer you. I think I found another number of the Disney website that specifically said ticket purchase.

We have taken at least two trips on each of the annual passes. Before the dining plan and ticket changes it used to be cost effective to buy an AP if you were planning on visiting the parks for more than 10 days. I can't compare now because I haven't done the math since all the changes. We definitely get our money's worth out of the passes....we are going down for a month in December and hopefully will get in at least one or two trips until next December. I just love the whole WDW experience for our family and also the flexibility the AP's give us. We can go to as many parks for as many days as we want and never feel rushed etc. (I'm sure the magic your way tickets with park hopper give you the same options but we go for too long to make this work for us) I have been to dl and for me I can't compare the two as WDW is in a league of its own as far as I'm concerned. My dd6 enjoys MK as much as EP. In fact she may even choose EP over MK some days. She likes wandering the countries as much as we do!

As far as I'm concerned an AP in WDW is the way to go. But again, we go for way more than 10 days so you'd have to sit down and figure out the cost effectiveness. I think when Disney was offering the free dining that would have been a great perk...but again, not for longer stays.

Just be prepared if you do go to WDW. We ventured down there for our first trip in 2002......this was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip and we'd try other places every year. :rotfl: And for some reason it just keeps calling us back. It's the pixie dust they throw in the air....I think we're addicted!

Well there's always some sacrifices to make for something and hubby works overseas so he is gone for over 6 weeks at a time. This summer he couldn't get back to Canada for 12 weeks and we decided we are going to run away for the month of December and just sit back and enjoy "family" time. I know a lot of people do the deluxe resorts but we prefer to stretch out our holidays and stay at the mods. (CSR to be specific) Otherwise when he's home real life tends to get in our way and he's gone before you know it and I'm going "was he even home?". We are very lucky to be able to sit back, relax and take it really nice and slow. We should hit some lower crowds before Christmas, then the Christmas rush, and I'm hoping some lower crowds after Christmas. I figure we're there long enough that during the Christmas crowds we can find a park bench, grab some mickey ice cream bars, and take in the ambience! We don't do the Disney parks every day either. There's days we just go shopping or hang around the resort. We've always gone when the temps are much warmer so I'm wondering if we'll get any swimming time this year. Because when the temps are hot we usually hit the parks in the am, spend the afternoon at the resort, and if we want try the parks for the evening again.

By the way, I miss Calgary very much....I live in B.C. now but I think I'm truly still a Calgarian at heart :lovestruc

Or there's always overseas...my dh is in oil and gas too...so basically it was Alberta/Fort McMurray-no thanks!/overseas.....Somedays I second guess our overseas decision but looking forward to our holidays gives me hope on those "i'm going to sell the kids" days! I've heard Calgary is growing by leaps and bounds....and what about those house prices!!!! We sold our house for under 300,000 a few years ago....I've heard you can't even get a starter for that now!
