Annual Pass and RO reservation

Our DD is starting the DCP this month and we decided to get Annual Passes since we will be visiting her often. We will order them in advance and pick them up with a voucher when we arrive. My question is how does it all work?

We have a room only reservation - Will we get Magic Bands shipped to us - or only if we had a package?

Should we pick up the Annual Pass Magic Bands before we check in?

When we pick up our AP Magic Bands will they be automatically linked to our hotel and fastpasses?

Our kids want to know if they get a color choice of AP Magic Bands?

You won't get MBs when you activate your APs unless you buy them. After you activate them you will see a place in your MDE account to customize them and provide a shipping address. You will get to choose the color and the name on the back.

If your room only reservation is on property and you have your reservation number linked to your MDE account you will see a similar place where you can customize your MBs if it is more than 30 days in advance. If you do not customize them they will all be grey and given to you when you check in.

Thank you so much for your thorough response. I spoke to two people at Disney and no one told me that. Now it all makes sense. Once we activate the AP in DW can we immediately enter the park? If we have old magic bands at home can we use them for this time?

Make sure you link your AP to your MDE acct when you receive the voucher. Also check to make sure your resort res is showing up on MDE. Anyone staying at a WDW resort gets MBs, you can pick colour from pink, blue, red, green, orange or yellow.

I believe you can use any MB that's active. It's said the battery in them lasts around 2 yrs?
We have APs, and this past year they were offering AP bands too with a special slider on it. So I have an AP band plus resort band. They are all interchangeable.
I think last Aug I never bothered using resort band.

In a few weeks I'll be getting 2 more MBs because we have a split stay. Not to mention the bazillion of MBs I have at home, we go 2x a year, some are split stays, and we've got bands from back when it was in testing.

I wish there was a way to opt out of getting them, if you don't need another just yet.

When I was at DW in December I saw someone handing one of the CMs at the front desk a handful of Magic Bands. She told the CM they didn't need them anymore because they had plenty at home. I don't know if the bands can be recycled or not, but it would get them off your hands if you don't want them piling up on you.
