Annual Pass and DDE

I'm a new DVC member. My first trip "home" will start on Sept 30, 2007.

If I want to have an AP as well as the Disney Dining Experience, when should I order them?

Do I need the AP voucher in my hand before I attempt to order DDE? Or can I order the AP, and then turn around and order DDE? Will they be able to look me up and see that I've ordered the AP?

I read in a post on these boards that you could ask the person helping you with the AP to help you order the DDE at the same time, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I didn't ask the right question or maybe the CM helping me with the AP didn't know how to hook up with the dining folks, but I was told I needed to call a separate number and they wanted the number from my AP voucher.

It only took a couple weeks to get the AP and once I had it, I called for the DDE and told them I would be in the parks in the next 10 days, so they arranged for me to pick up a temporary card at the Guest Relations at Epcot along with the AP. It was very smooth; I had no problems so for me it wasn't an issue that I couldn't order at the same time.

That is correct, you have to call a separate number for DDE.

Unlike the AP voucher, the DDE card is effective immediately so you don't want to order it too early.

You do need the AP voucher before you can order the DDE card. Give them a call they will tell you when the best time to order the card will be. For example, last year when I ordered, I wanted to be sure my card would have an August 07 expiration, so I was told to wait for a certain date (I think it was July 5th?) Anyway, we love having the card, have been using it since it was offered to AP holders.
