any idea of the dates of the homeowners meetings in december? we missed our last year by one day and was hoping maybe this year we might get lucky. thanks!

What are they like? What was discussed, and do you feel it is important that you atten?

I would urge everyone to try to attend an annual meeting. Members are allowed to attend any of the meetings- even if they can't make the one for the resort where they own.

The business meeting is tightly scripted and offers no opportunity for any question or contribution from members in general.

This is followed by a more open session where the GM of the resort will be introduced and an overview of accomplishments for the past year and goals for the coming year will be announced. There will also be an opportunity for questions/comments from those in attendance and even after conclusion, the principals will remain to answer further questions.

The onsite meetings are held at the BW Convention Center.

Are DVC annual meetings cyber cast or available as audio feed off of the internet for those of us who cannot be there?

To date, you have to physically attend the meetings. They also do not issue any minutes or recap to the general membership.

Along those lines, for anyone who does attend a meeting(s), many of us here would appreciate it if you would take some time to post at least a quick recap of the high points of the meeting. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help us out with that.

I have attended several OKW annual meetings & find it worth my time & effort. I, too, would encourage any DVC owner to attend an annual meeting. The last several years the OKW meeting has been held at the Boardwalk Convention Center, but these meetings have been held in other locations. I would be sure to check the mailings DVC members receive in the late fall or the member's web site.

I have met the people who spend my money . Seriously, many management CMS are there. It is a good opportunity to meet CMs in charge of the resort - the general manager, housekeeping, the front desk, engineering, etc. plus general DVC CMs like accounting, member services,Boarad of Directors, etc.. I have never met a DVC CM who is not willing to take time to chat with DVC members whether it be questions, comments, observations, etc. I firmly believe that DVC CMs DO want to hear from members at any time of the year.

The meetings themselves remind me of reading Robert's Rules of Order. They are very formal & I am sure follow FL legal guidelines for timeshares. The Board does present us with upcoming information about Disney. There is a question & answer period toward the end.

Even though I do attend the OKW annual meetings, I wouldn't mind if DVC posted "official" minutes - maybe on the web site. I would be interested in reading about the other DVC resorts.

Wow! Let me make sure I've got this straight. The OKW annual meeting may not be held at OKW? ANd better yet (for me, anyways), it may be held at the Boardwalk? This is the first year I was getting to go to an annual meeting and I was trying to figure out how to get from where I was staying at BCV over to OKW that morning. Since I'm not an OKW owner and so won't get the official notice, please post the location here.

Simba's Mom, I don't know if the OKW annual meeting has ever been held at OKW. For many years there used to be, what I called, an informal meeting held at Community Hall at OKW the afternoon before the official meeting. It was another great opportunity to meet the CMs who make OKW wonderful!

For the last several years the OKW annual meeting has been held at the Boardwalk Convention Center. One year (maybe 1999?) it was held at the Disney Institute Theater, but the logistics were not as good. Boardwalk seems to work well.

I just made a note in my calendar near the computer to send you an email in November regarding the OKW meeting .
