Annual dues question

Hi all,we bought into DVC over the xmas period and were told annual dues would be due in january each year.Today i have a letter from disney asking for my dues for 2007 to be paid by 1st march,was i incorrect in thinking id be paying for 2007 in jan 2008?
Also as they have only given me a day to pay is it possible to pay annual dues online?

I'm afraid you are correct, your dues are payable in advance, therefore 2007 are due at the start of 2007.

You can pay your dues online I understand, worth having a look around the DVC website for it, but it is definitely on there somewhere.

yes Matt is right, if you go online, click on my account, there will then be a section on annual dues, which gives you the option to pay online

Sorry to hop onto your thread but I was just wondering, Matt or Jules (if you know) does that mean we will have dues to pay for this year too? Our contract start date, I believe, is 6th March so will we get a bill for that or will we not pay our first dues till 2008?

I'm confused now as I'm sure our guide said our first dues would be paid in Jan next year

Joh, I'm not sure what the situation would be, when we bought it was October, and we had a use year of June. I know that our first lot of dues was not for a full twelve months, it was worked out pro-rata, but I can't remeber when we paid them, I wonder if I can get a statement on the DVC website. I will have a look and see what I can find out ....

Unlucky Joh, thinking you will be looking at a dues bill after your close.

Our start date was in Dec and we had to pay 1 month for 2006 and 12 for 2007 in Jan. I'd be surprised if you will get 9 months grace to pay your 2007 dues. Reckon you'll be asked to pay up not long after you close.

Joh,i think you will be in the same position as me-i am sure when we had the dvc talk we were told dues are every jan so i wasnt expecting a $900 bill dropping thru the the door this morning.
Made me even more angry when i read it had to be paid by 1st march(1 whole day).

Bad news Dave, $900 bills are never good things to receive! Not so bad as it is for DVC maybe? Might be worth talking to your guide and they'll probably extend your time to pay it.

My understanding is that dues are paid in advance in January for each calendar year. If your use year is any month other than January, you will pay a pro-rata amount when you close. It was explained to us, but we also asked quite a few times, for clarification purposes..
