Annoying Golf Carts At GF

Last time we stayed at GF, we were annoyed with all of the golf carts that were driving along the walkways. Sometimes it felt like you were on a highway trying to dodge traffic! I was wondering if anbody else noticed this problem and if it has been addressed by the hotel since our '02 stay.

Though we've never felt as annoyed, yes - the golf carts are still there and probably always will be. They use them to transport - luggage, guests, and themselves - around the property.

We've seldom felt that the driver of the cart "owned" the walkway and was irritated with our being on the sidewalk. We just move over to the side, same as we would if another group walking were coming our way.

I think part of our problem was that we would hang out around the resort during the day - the time they are busiest transporting luggage, laundry, and such. Truth be told, we probably encountered one or two rude CMs running about on the carts and it stuck in our minds. :( This next trip we plan on being out and about much more during the day enjoying our gold plan features. Not only that, be we are probably going with much more laid back attitudes. :p

My husband felt the same way at the golf carts that the CMs drive around the CSR.

We stayed 8/2003 and kind of felt the same way. It wasn't a problem when you could see the carts coming but when they snuck up behind you I found that annoying. And yes, it seemed like they were everywhere!

We were at the GF dropping off the boys for the Pirate Cruise and had been playing Dodge the Golf Cart until one of the drivers stopped and asked us if we needed a ride. :p We said 'sure', hopped on and took a very short ride to the side entrance of the resort. We thought it was nice of him to offer though...

We have always found the carts we quite courteous towards the foot traffic on the paths - what I have found annoying is the gardeners waking us up early!

I'd do anything to dodge golf carts or be woken up by gardeners! Get me to Walt Disney World!

I noticed that the golf carts are going faster then I would expect, at times. There were a couple of times the cart came around a cornor too fast, in my opinion. I saw a small child almost get hit by one. I was sure to keep hold of my kids. You know, not let them run up in front of us to far. This did irritate me. I felt like it was a hassle to have to watch out for the carts. I do see that it would be nice to use them to get from point A to B. By the way my golf cart experience was at the Poly and not the GF. I posted because a fast cart is a fast cart.

We have stayed at the Grand Floridian over 10 times, and never had problems with the golf cart drivers. They usually stop and wait until you walk by. One of the gentlemen driving the golf carts was so nice to us and gave us a ride to our Boca Chica room all the way from the self parking lot. I think he felt bad for us when he saw our hands full of packages and managing to cross the road with our 8 year old boy and our 1 year old girl!
It was also a very hot and humid day, and we were so tired from a full day of walking at Sea World!!!
