We did our shopping online the other night and it was delivered yesterday morning, we don't usually use this service but we had a coupon to use to get 1000 club card points and we are collecting deals vouchers to put towards our next WDW trip as they are worth 4 times the face value of the voucher - anyway I digress.

We got our shopping and everything was there fine - one of the items that we ordered was a four pack of nappy wrapper cassettes for 4 months and over - these were priced on the website at £14.97, 50 pence more than our local store but we thought we'd order them anyway to get the points. When we got them yesterdat we checked the price and they have charged us £19.97??

DH rang them and they said that everything on their website is a "guide price" and it depends where the order is being dispatched to as to how much you are charged!!!!! So because another store (that we never visit) delivers to us we are charged more!!! According to their customer services this rule applies with everythng - including the offers such as Buy one get one free and the 3 for 2 offers, if a store hasn't got them on then you don't get it and will be charged accordingly. It says this in very small print when you check out - so be sure to check your online invoices when the shopping is delivered as you may be being ripped off with out even realising it!

Thanks for pointing that out Gem ~ I do quite alot of shopping online and NEVER check the small print, I will now :thumbsup2

That's really bad you wouldn't think they could do that. I've never tried it myself but I'm a bit wary about online supermarket shopping as a few friends have done it and often get things 'substituted' when the supermarket doesn't have them. Unfortunately the substitutes have been nothing like what they wanted or important items have been left out so they have ended up going shopping anyway. I will be advising them all to check carefully from now on so they don't get ripped off :)

I'm still struggling to understand why there would be price variations from store to store. Surely, Tesco is Tesco and it shouldn't matter what the location of the store is - their prices should be the same.

Having said that, I have often noticed that the Tesco petrol in Antrim is more expensive than the petrol in Lisburn :confused3

for that reason I have switched to Ocado..it all comes from the same place, and they very rarely substitute. They are also amazing at refunding things if they are not right... no questions asked almost.

I have gone right off Tescos. I cant even buy their meat or vegetables any more as its horrid! (well compared to Waitrose that is!>>) <<<< disadvantage of using Ocado or Waitrose.. is that you cant go back to Tescos afterwards as you have "seen the light"!!! ;)

I would take that up with them again though, I really dont think thats fair..

£19.97 :scared1: That is incredible! I nearly ordered the same item yesterday - might just go and buy it just in case

The other thing to watch is that once BOGOFs etc are taken off your guide price is still above the minimum for your points or discounts.

I'd take them back to your local store with the receipt Gems and they'll give you the £20 back at customer services and you can then walk a few metres and buy them for £15 ;)

We are using Tesco.com a lot at the moment - we are lucky as our local one is the new huge one in Coventry and even the veg is nice (not fussed on the meat!) Also now Molly doesn't fit in the trolley it's too much fun instore. :rotfl:

I have found a good source of codes so we use one each week - please feel free to pm me and I'll send you the link.
