Not impressed. We are a group of 6 with two 4 year old girls going on a Western Caribbean cruise this winter. Noticed that they will only provide character calls if you live (the phone) within the USA.

We pay more that our US friends and Disney cheaps out and won't send a 1 min call.

Could anyone let me know if I'm wrong or if there is a way to get a call? I know my girls would be over the moon to get a call from Miney or Mickey.

I'm a little confused. If they (DCL??) only provide character calls if you live OUTSIDE the US, and you live in Canada, then I would imagine that you should be able to get that call.

Why are you paying more for your cruise than Americans? The cost of a cruise
is a set amount, and does not vary depending on the country of residence of a guest. You pay the same amount for a balcony cabin as an American, a Brit, or a Klingon.

As for Disney cheaping out- I would imagine that they are as fiscally responsible as any other corporation and would want to limit the cost of international (vs. national) long distance calls. I understand that you are disappointed that your children might not get an automated call from Mickey but I think you are being unreasonably harsh towards DCL.

I did the Alaskan cruise this Sept and scheduled a call for myself & my mom (who was coming with me).

I did notice that you couldn't schedule it until after 9am your time (PST for me).

I'm guessing from your response KittyKat1978 that you did receive your calls?

Our cruise is in February and I'm planning on telling my DD about it in January. I was hoping the call would be part of the surprise.

In May 2012 we received our phone calls in Ontario from DCL characters saying they were looking forward to us sailing with them on the Disney Dream. It was a cool call however the kids did struggle to understand them but got the idea of it pretty quick.

You are correct, it states it must be a US number. I am shocked they changed it. I was going to book for my kids but can not any longer, will call DCL and see what they say

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully if I call they will send a call to my girls.

Wonder if they could send one via Skype... (worth asking)

The first page say US numbers only but if you click through there are options for Canada and UK also! I just scheduled one for 8:45pm!

Try it!

UPDATE! After scheduling my call, I was sent to a new screen with an 800 number to call in for my call. The order number they provided (which you need to enter) was invalid.

Then, the phone rang and there was Mickey and Minnie! It worked!

So strange... Don't call in when it tells you to... Just wait for your call!

You can get a call. We received one for our March 2013 cruise on the Magic and we're in Ontario.

Fill out the form for the call and it'll come.
