Yesterday I bought Little Debbie snack cakes becasue they had a sign up "4 for $5". After going thru checkout I checked my reciept and they rang up normal price. So I went to the customer service desk to get the price corrected.
They told me it was only certain ones. When I asked (politely I might add)why it wasn't signposted which ones were on sale, the clerk got huffy and called the manager.
The manager told me they originally had a sign up with the flavors on sale written by hand on it. The Little Debbie rep told them they didn't want a hand-written sign there, so the store removed it.
Why they can't print a better sign off from a computer I don't know :confused3
So I guess you just have to GUESS which ones are on sale!!!!!!!!!

bummer. Seems to me if it isn't specified they should honor it. I've had this happen at Kmart and Lowe's. I sometimes pull out my phone and take a pic of it if there is a dispute at the cashier station (I hate waiting for them to send someone over to check if it was right). FYI Kmart honored the marked price (microwave cart) Lowe's did not (furnace filters). Menard's did also, we got a deal on one of those tractor sprinklers, shelf said $40, it rang up for $75, did not have a price tag. At Lowe's I just left them there and said that I was not buying them.

That happened at Petsmart. They had a sale on their canned Science Diet cat food. Great! So I pick up a bunch of the one flavor my cat is NOT allergic to. Most of the flavors have fish as an ingredient which she is allergic to, so I can only buy her the one flavor.

As it turns out, the sale itself, was only for ONE flavor and not the one my cat eats. I asked how the Science Diet sale can only be for ONE flavor when they have about 12 flavors? :confused3 They said they like to promote one flavor now & then. They can send me email sale alerts as to which flavor is on sale.

Great, so I'm supposed to wait through 12 different flavor sales until they get to mine?

There are two food stores that do the same thing in my area. Only some are on sale. The last time this happened, I left the store without buying any and they were frozen foods so they had to go and put them back.

FYI, Walmart sells Little Debbie at discounted prices and you don't have to guess and you don't have to wait for a sale.

I know it may seem lame, but you can report it to yout Atty general. There are laws that protect you as a consumer and they may need to be reminded of them. I think many states will let you fill out a complaint electronically.

I know in my state they can not do that and not honor the sign.

I would call

Big Lots Corporate Offices:
300 Phillipi Road
Columbus, Ohio 43228-5311
Phone: (614) 278-6800

and report this to Corporate and if you do not get satisfaction then I would call and report this violation to your State, you can call the state gov office for the state you live in and they should be able to direct you to the right number.

I know it is just little debbie snacks but it is the principle really. If they are advertising a price then they should honor that price not come up with some lame excuse that only certain ones are on sale.

Actually the time I had to call Big Lots Corporate they were very nice and handled my call quickly and to my satisfaction.

I have never written to the Atty General, BUT whenever there is a price problem and they say the sign is wrong or miss marked I say "oh that's too bad, I worked in retail and I know by law you have to give it to me at that price" I've gotten it everytime. I think you just need to let them know the law exists and it shuts them up.
