DH and I are about to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary (5 total years together), and I have no idea what to get him. He does not wear jewelry, watches, etc. He is into sports, Star Wars & video games. Should I try to stick with something romantic or just get him a gift? We usually just gave each other presents, but I wasn't sure what to do now that we are married! Anyone have any unusual type ideas?

I have such a hard time with gifts for him since our anniversary, Christmas, valentines day and his B-day are all in 4 months!

we have a hard time with gifts too since our anniversary, my birthday, and christmas are all within a month and a half of each other.

the first anniversary is supposed to be paper (if you care about that kind of thing). i think i got dh a computer game. this year i got him a pair of the tempur-pedic slippers from brookstone (he really wants slippers and i tried on a pair -- they are super comfy!)

My DH and I have been married 15 years. We don't do anniversary gifts. We never have. We always do a special night out for our anniversary.

My Dh and I just Celebrated our first Annv. and he simply got me a card saying happy annv. We took off for weekend away at Niagara Falls which we normally do in april but this year it just didn't work out.

The 30th will be our fourth wedding anniversary. I just got DH a cute card (with Mickey and Minnie on the front and when you open it up Mickey scoots over to Minnie to give her a kiss :) ) We're not giving each other gifts this year because we just bought a new car and I guess that's a gift for both of us :)

DH and I have always bought each other "traditional" wedding gifts. The first anniversary is the paper anniversary. He bought me tickets to Phantom of the Opera and I bought him an autographed, framed photo of his favorite hockey player. Each year, it's a challenge to find something that fits into the "traditional" gift theme. I think the fourth year was "fruit". He got me canisters and plates in the fruit theme to match my new kitchen and I got him a toolbox filled with apples and a promise to make him homemade apple pie. You can find the list of anniversaries on the net or in any Hallmark. Happy Anniversary and good luck to the both of you for many more!

A follow up.....chesirechik, I didn't notice at first you're from the 'Burgh! GO STEELERS!!!! But I digress.....

Anyway, the picture I bought hubby was of Mario when we won our first Stanley Cup. If you're looking for that sort of thing, there's a great sports memoribilia shop on Liberty Avenue downtown. I can't remember the name of it, but it's on the second floor about a block away from Yovi's hot dog shop.

Happy anniversary! DH and I just celebrated our 1st year, too. I got him a computer game and he got me(us) tickets to Mamma Mia. A computer game isn't romantic, but he's hard to shop for and this I knew he really wanted.

I regret it a little, only because I tend not to exist when he's into a game. lol But sometimes... I go shopping! hehehe
