Just back from the 10/2 WONDER

Background: our 20th anniversary (no kids) (left all 4 at home) and my cousins surprise honeymoon cruise for his bride just married on 9/27

Part 2
We board the ship around 1:30 and head straight to wave bands for Palo reservations. We have sailed twice and never ate at Palo. With no kids we figure this would be a perfect time. None of us wanted to give up our regular dinner rotation which was at 8:30 so we decided to DOUBLE DIP.
We got reservations for Thursday night at 6:30 and had the TAP rotations so we would only need to dress up that one night. After making the reservations we headed for the rooms. Let me just say that the cat 9 rooms on deck 2 are GREAT!!. We loved these rooms. The water is so close and the rooms are close to everything. We ended up only having one room between our two rooms. While the bride & groom checked out their room I put up a congrats banner along with their wedding announcements on their door I had brought a anniversary banner for our room door. WOW did it make it easy to find our rooms. We unpacked and relaxed for a minute before heading up to grab a quick and light snack. We had not ate since 6:00 a.m at the cheap hotel in KC. We walked around the ship and toured the spa but didn’t book anything. We were all so happy to be back on the ship. The safety drill is always great fun. It is amazing at how many people complain the WHOLE time. If everyone would just be quiet and listen the whole drill would be over so much faster. After the drill we enjoy the sail away party. I didn’t see anyone else with bubbles so DH would rather I not blow them since we didn’t have our kids with us. I blew just a few and ended up tossing the rest. On our 7 day DCL even blew bubbles. As we started to pull away from the port I didn’t see the people at the terminal waving those big white Mickey hands. I was a little sad. Just as I had given up here they come! I love waving to those on the shore. After the sail away we headed back to our rooms to shower for the evening. We had not planned on going to any of the shows. DH and I had seen them both twice before and the bride and groom had seen them once. Golden Mickeys was new and we could have went to the show but we will all be sailing together again on the March 20th 2004 7 day eastern cruise and wanted to wait and see it with our families.
We headed up to Palo. Our server was Serena and she was wonderful. I think dessert was the best! While we ate we noticed 2 men in shorts come up and ask for a table. WHAT? They left and returned about 10 minutes later in JEANS and they got a table. We were very surprised. I had read that DCL had relaxed the rules on the 3 day BUT JEANS? When we finished around 8:00 we were full but not stuffed. We strolled down to Triton’s. We really like the food at Tritons. Our servers were Eduardor and Yaroslav. After dinner we were very full but had enjoyed doing the double dip. If you have the chance to do the double dip go fro it. We walked around the ship for a little while but it had been a very long day and headed in for the night. When we got back to our rooms we both had surprises. DCL had left us each a very nice card congratulating us our anniversary and wedding. The bride and groom even had 2 pins to wear saying they are celebrating a honeymoon. How cool.
Friday ( Nassau)
We had already seen Nassau once before and did not like it. We decided to enjoy the ship. We ate breakfast at Parrot Cay. After breakfast we went to see the movie Pirates Of The Carribean. What a great movie to see on a ship. We went back to our room and changed into our swimsuits and then headed down to Tritons for lunch and we noticed a server that we had back in December 2001 for our 3 day. We kept looking his way and he noticed us looking. He crawled on the floor to duck away from our eyes. He was sooo funny. We have never had servers that were as good as the first servers we had. He came over and we talked with him. Turns out he said he did not remember three of us but did remember my DH. He brought up how on our last 3 day DH didn’t like his eggs runny and didn’t like his steak pink and on & on. We were very surprised. He even told us the year we had last sailed with him which was 2001. We have sailed once more since then but not with him as our server. I’m sure he could have pulled up the info about when we cruised last but to remember all the other stuff was great. On our very first cruise Kerry took his time and explained the menu in detail. How the placing the napkin on ones lap worked and showed the kids how to fold the napkins. How to place your fork & knife when finished. We have never had another server take the time to explain things in detail like that before. If we had known he would have still been a server on the wonder we would have requested him. We enjoyed our visit Kerry. After lunch we enjoyed the whirlpool in quiet cove. SOOO nice. We wanted to get some sun so we took four loungers to the far back of deck 10. No one around except for a few strolling along. We were on the left (port side) of ship and the wind was coming from the right(starboard side). Nice gentle breeze. It was heaven. I had just drifted off to sleep when the smell of a cigarette woke me up. A man was standing at the far right corner smoking and it was drifting right across us. YUCK! We are not smokers so this bothered us. He was only there about 3 minutes but it seemed like a half an hour. We had not noticed very many smokers on this cruise so we felt lucky. When we did come across any they were usually sitting in chair relaxing and we just walked on past with out any problems. We even came across one man smoking a cigar. Not a problem for me. I don’t even mind the smell of a cigar. BUT If I was a smoker (which I used to be) I would not stop near four people obviously trying to relax and smoke a cigarette when the wind is blowing right over them. Just a little thoughtfulness would have been nice. It was only that one time so again we felt lucky that it didn’t happen more. Went to play bingo in the afternoon and did not win. Dinner was at Animators. We all love this restaurant but don’t care for the menu. After dessert our three servers came over and gave us each a little decorated cake and sang happy anniversary and happy honeymoon. It was a very nice surprise. When we returned to our rooms after dinner we had an even bigger anniversary card and 2 pins that said we were celebrating. The bride and groom also had a larger card. The bride kept asking us if we knew anything about any of this. All of the pins and cards were very nice surprises for all of us. The tropical deck party was so much fun. The ship next to us had people looking over and dancing along to the Disney music. We felt kinda sorry for them. NOT

Padre Disney ~

Enjoying your trip report....thanks for sharing.
Sounds as tho you had a wonderful trip!

Congrats on that surprise upgrade.
Know you enjoyed looking out of that porthole!!

Jeans at Palo?? We recently were on the Wonder and were also surprised how it seemed to be so much more casual than the Magic. Very few tuxes/gowns and shorts seem totally acceptable in the dining rooms for dinner.

We had the pleasure of using Cartier also and found their service to be excellent. Julio (an X marine officer) was also our driver. He was very professional, yet personable.

Congrats on the 20th Anniversary! :lovestruc
Best wishes to the newly weds! :bride: :groom:
