So my lovely bride and I will be celebrating our 25th next year with a 7day Alaskan cruise. Because I buggered up the first proposal(long story), I want to do it again on the cruise. I want to give her another ring. this is where the help comes in. Should I get second (But better) solitaire, a three stone anniversary band, or something totaly different. Don't want to break the bank but more than willing to morgage it for this wonderful woman. I believe her current solitaire is about a carat princess cut. Let me hear your thoughts please.

For our 15th my DH got me a 3 stone anniversary band. He wanted to take my engagement ring and use the stone from that for one of the side stones, but they said it would be hard to match the diamonds. He ended up taking the stone out of my engagement ring and putting it into a necklace, then putting a different stone into my engagement/wedding band and getting me an anniversary band. I now wear the anniversary band on my left hand and the other ring on my right hand. I had thought I had lost my wedding ring while he was doing all of this. I was looking everywhere for it. Once he saw how upset I was he did let me know that it was ok, but I wouldn't have it for a few days. :)

I'd vote for an anniversary band. I wear mine on my right hand and keep my engagement and wedding rings on my left. That way I enjoy each of them and what they represent.

I think I'd go with the anniversary band.

But, is your wife sentimental about the original solitaire? If not, maybe go ahead and upgrade.

See, my own stone is pretty small, but it is THE ONE dh gave me way back then, and it has a lot of sentiment. I don't want anyone messing with that!

Congrats on your anniversary BTW.:goodvibes

Do you have any idea what she would want, or how she feels about her original ring?

I would prefer a new solitaire or a 3-stone ring for my left hand. I was not attached to my engagement ring, and I traded it in a few years ago for a bigger one. However, I know people who want to keep the one they were proposed to with, and would not want to have anything else for that finger.

DH got me an anniversary band for our 10th anniversary, I wear it on my right hand.

I didn't have a stone or a ring when I asked her, hence the "I buggered the first one up" statement. The current stone is not the original. I lost the first one. She had given it to me to hold while we were at child birth classes and when I took my keys out of my pocket in the parking lot it must have come out with them. So being the good hubby I replaced it with an upgrade. We have also changed the setting several times. I kinda like the anniversary bands but I'm just not sure. Please keep the ideas coming. Thanks for all the help so far.

I wanted to do that for our 25th but it just could be.... Have a great time.

I never got a ring, mostly because I didn't want to worry about having it. I worked in surgery and many of my fellow nurses lost theirs in the laundry and scrub sinks.

When we were married 22 years we finally had plenty of money to spend on something for me. We had a ring designed together. I saw a setting I liked but didn't want a diamond. There was a beautiful dark blue sapphire in another ring and they gave it to me for mine. It is about 1.4 carats and really high quality. I suggest this because there are several stones which are rarer than diamonds and really make a statement. Even a different color stone flanked by diamonds as a 3 stone ring is beautiful. I have always loved the anniversary bands with alternating diamonds and sapphires, emeralds or rubys. Lately Tanzanite has become very popular.

Go to a nice independently owned jeweler and just look. Make it clear you are on a research trip. Go to a couple and find someone who can make you a special and unique ring. She will love it.
