I posted on DVC Mousellaneous but didn't get a lot of replies. So trying here. My post there was about Hilton Head Diner, but now I'm looking into Annie O's Southern Eats. It looks like the perfect menu for what we are looking for--down home Southern comfort food. Has anyone ever tried it?

I'd be interested in hearing the answer to this. I thought I heard on Tripadvisor that Annie O's closed. Am I perhaps remembering wrong?

Oh no! I hope not. The menu sounds so good! I plan on calling them today to check. In the meantime, anyone ever try this restaurant?

Never heard of Annie O's. We tried Lowcountry Backyard BBQ in May when we were there and loved it. Their mac & cheese is just like southern homemade.

I just got off the phone with Annie O's. I asked their summer hours and they said 11 am-9 pm Monday through Saturday. So definitely not closed.

We tried Lowcountry Backyard two years ago and weren't too impressed. Long wait and unbearable heat in that backyard with no coastal breezes. Food didn't blow us away either.

We've also tried Dye's Gullah Fixin's a couple of times and love it, but want to try something new.

Thanks so much for correcting me. I apologize to Annie O's for spreading a false rumor. I just double-checked trip advisor, and sure enough, it's not them that closed-and they've got good reviews. Except now it's going to bug me-what WAS that restaurant that I was thinking had closed?

Do you think it's Roastfish and Cornbread? It seems like I remember someone on here saying it closed. But I may also be spreading false rumors.

Lowcountry Backyard is better in my opinion. And yes- Roastfish and Cornbread is the one that closed but the owner is going to open another restaurant in bluffton soon.

I suggest checking out the new Poseidon at the new shelter cove park location behind the new kroger. It is the newest surge group restaurant and very good.

Also- If you want the old time southern feel go to Old Town BLuffton to check out their shops, waterfront 100 year old church, and restaurants-
The Cottage is great for breakfast and lunch for southern food and sandwiches.
BLuffton BBQ is authentic southern BBQ and very good as well
I suggest going on Thursdays when the bluffton farmers market is happening. It just off 278 on the way to the island not to far from the outlets

I also heard that they'd closed. Unfortunately, over the last year or two there've been some worsening mismanagement problems.

We've been back from Hilton Head for a few weeks now, just haven't had time to post. I just want to say we tried Annie O's. It was the worst meal we have ever had on the island! My DH ordered the meatloaf, and it came out with ketchup and brown gravy on it! It also looked like pressed meat. I had never seen him turn down meatloaf, but he did there. He ate a couple of bites, and he was done. My fried chicken was pretty dry. My kids' shrimp and grits were pretty good and the coconut cream pie and the pecan pie were good, but we will never return. We all decided to give Low Country Backyard another try (inside this time), and we will definitely be going back to Dye's Gullah Fixin's for our southern comfort food.

We thought Low Country Backyard was the worst meal we had on the island during our trip there this summer. I would definitely recommend One Hot Mama's though; excellent food. My kids wanted to go back multiple times and honestly if there wasn't so many places to choose from I wouldn't have minded either. :)

One Hot Mama's is great. We usually get their BBW to go for lunch. I hate to hear you didn't like Low Country Backyard. Our experience last time was not negative due to the food, but due to the heat and the long wait (we even went early before they opened).
