dh and I are going there next weekend for a sailboat show. Has anybody ever been to this?
Also, what about annapolis itself. I think we'll be spending alot of time at the show, which is on the waterfront, but i'd like to check out the town a bit. Any good places to eat both b'fast and dinner? Is there anything special to see or do?
I wish I had planned this sooner because it seems like a really nice place to spend some time and with the big boat show in town it's doubtful we could find rooms and spend the night.

Castle Bay Irish Pub is on Main St. in the main historical part of Annapolis and I really enjoyed their food. They're also across from the cute candy store that has M&Ms you can buy by the color - which I am oddly obsessed with.

There's a lot of cute shopping and restaurants on Main Street as well. Aromi D'Italia is right around there and has amazing gelato in about a hundred flavors :teeth:

I was looking at the pub's menu on line and thinking about it. And buying m&m's in any color would definitely be cool. It sounds like you have to park at the academy and take a shuttle to the show. I don't know how things are laid out. Can we walk into town from the waterfront area?

I have not been to Annapolis in a while. Do any of the locals know if Riordan's still there? It's a relaxing pub/restaurant near the water. If it's still there, they serve a Sunday brunch. We have not been there in ages, but we were just talking about it the other day and hope to go for brunch soon.

There are some shops and antique shops to browse within walking distance of the docks.

You used to be able to tour the Naval Academy, but I'm not sure what the rules are for tours after 9/11. You might want to check that out when you're in town.

Have a good trip!

I won't have the time to tour the academy but my son runs xc/track for a school in md and has several races there. I plan to do that during one of his races.

Riordans is still there and still delicious! We ate there last week and had the crab salad on a croussaint and it was very good. The soup was tasty too. There are so many places up and down Main Street to eat at. Make sure you try a different place for each meal! There is Chick and Ruth's Deli which is a local landmark. It too is on Main Street. They are a local sub/sandwich/everything else type place where everything is good!

The historical part of Annapolis and Main Street area is a super short walk from the Academy. All my trips to Annapolis involved USNA, so I should know :rotfl: (too many trips from college in Baltimore if you ask me! I went for the m&ms!)

It sounds like the parking is at the stadium (Rowe Blvd) with shuttle service.

The city dock has many great choices of dining. I can't recommend breakfast spots because I ate mostly at home when I lived in the area. There used to be some great places on Main Street and some great dinner spots on the City dock.

Maryland Renassiance Festival (10:30 a.m.-7 p.m) is going on at the county fairgrounds in Crownsville---easy to get there (plus is near one of the local malls and a resteraunt park with various chain resteraunts).
