Anyone been there? I’d really love to explore these ruins while in St.John, and I’m wracking my brain trying to figure out how to do it AND still have a little time at Trunk Bay.

I could take the DCL excursion St. John Island Tour - but I think we’d only stop to take photos of beaches, though some reports describe having made brief stops at one or two (not Trunk Bay). I’m not sure how long we’d have at Annaberg, but I think at least time to explore, even if not overly long

I could also take the DCL excursion St. John On Your Own - where we‘re dropped off at Cruz Bay for 2 1/4 hours on our own. Technically I could do both - take a 20+ minute taxi ride to Annaberg, explore, take a taxi to Trunk Bay, spend some time, then a taxi back to Cruz Bay. I don’t think this would work, honestly - I’d be stressing myself out, and it’s just too much transportation.

I suppose if I were inclined to do St. John on my own, without the tour, I could get it done and still have time to explore Cruz Bay for a bit..IF I got off the ship early enough (darn the early departure time). But I know myself - I’d be incredibly harried and worried about getting back to the ship on time. It’s the best and also the worst option for me, lol

Anyway, sorry to blather on, but I’d love to hear anyone’s experiences at Annaberg...

Thanks!

Have you looked to see if there are any private tours that offer the plantation? Sometimes there are tour groups that allow you to design-your-own.

Reputable Tour & excursion companies frequently include a guarantee that you’ll be back in time for departure.

Good luck.

Funny thing! I was just reading about private island tours that start at Cruz Bay - and found one that looks perfect!

https://www.stjohnislandtours.com/

They don’t mention cruises specifically, but I’m guessing that many of their guests are cruisers.
I would certainly confirm the timing aspect of it beforehand. What I like is that they do yours for 1 - as a solo traveler, I’m used to being shut out in many things.

They’ve got a customizable 4 hour tour …that’s kind of perfect to me. I definitely want to return to St. John, but I don’t know when that would be, and I love private tours, so the expense would be worth it. This way - I could guarantee a stop at Anneberg, a tour of the island (to a degree) and swim/relaxation at Trunk Bay…even time at Cruz Bay. This seems overly ambitious, lol, so I might need to forgo the island tour, but at least I have options!

Thank you!

How are you getting to St John?
I suppose I’ll get off the ship ASAP and make the 9 am ferry from Red Hook…

Jen of Explore STJ said that the VI are an hour ahead since they don’t move the clocks, so I imagine we’ll be told on board when we need to change our watches and clocks?

Yes, you should get a card in your room before. I think before Tortola.
