Animation Quest has gone live!

The new Animation Quest is now live. There are also rooms open in VMK that are trading them, previewing, etc. Woot!

Yeah I really was hoping it did something a little more... but it's still cool IMO. Unfortunately pretty soon it will probably be as rare as an animators desk...

In my opinion, this would have worked better as a hand-out card at DCA, (to replace the animator's desk), and at the park in WDW that has Drawn to Animation.

if you like it great, I think it is the only thing VMK has come out with that I fail to see the appeal.

I thought it was going to do something ....

Oh...Mal, great thinking. When I first read this I was like, " All it does is spin? I thought it would do something much much more. " But your right Mal, I didnt even think, maybe later something will happen with the animation quest.

I was kinda hoping that it could put little images of a cartoon on the wall...Maybe a Mickey Mouse face?

Now THAT would be cool...although I don't think that's how a zoetrope works...if I remember, the moving images are inside the drum when it spins. Either way, a projected image on the wall is better than something that just spins without images.

If you look closely when it spins you can see it starts out a plain blue ball... then a bit is added to it.. then a bit more... until the full VMK logo can be seen.

That said, it is smaller than I thought it would be, and I am not really 'excited' about it.....

Yeah, when Yavn posted the picture, I was surprised... It seemed like it accomplished pretty much the same thing as the Animator's Desk, so why repeat it? And to make a big quest out of it?

I think the younger players would have enjoyed something a bit more... Disney-y? Rather than a VMK logoed spinning thing?


BTW, I just finished watching 'Walt: The Man Behind the Myth." I recommend it to everyone!

Pirate Wells are not quest items that are limited by being received based on having a park ticket or pass. Very different.

I do have to say - they could have made the images on the spinning reel an actual cartoon - maybe Steamboat Wille? - that would have been cute. Not too thrilled about it, the concept is cute, just think they fell a little short on the delivery.
