Animater Meals

Is it possible to eat a meal with an animator? I know that you can have a meal with an Imagineer, bnut is it possible to eat with an animator?

Yea, I doubt if you could find an animator on property, much less have a meal with one. He would be out of work, and you would have to pay for his meal as well!

A couple of years ago, Disney Dining offered a Lunch with an Animator in addition to the Imagineer Lunch. When the studio closed down, the lunch ceased. My DD has done the Imagineer Lunch twice both times dining with a show writer. Her favorite was Jason Searles who has written the Haunted Mansion and new Pirates of the Caribbean books. The newest lunch is offered at the AKL and features a zookeeper from the AK.
It is a great experience and my DD is looking forward to doing it again on our next visit.

You get in touch with Disney Dining, promise them an obscene amount of money, and show up at your appointed time.

DD7 and I did this last year and enjoyed it. We also had Jason Surrell as our Imagineer and he was very personable, making sure that DD got to get a question or two. That was nice - she was interested in asking about how he got started and writing and inventing and such while the others at the table were more the "On page 16 of your new book, Jason....." types. (Nice people, just on a different level of Disney wavelength) I don't know if we'd do it again, but it was pleasant and the food was excellent, for sure.

I have been talking with a local studio that just hired several Disney animators and we went out to lunch last week. I didn't pay a cent for it. I consider it quite a bargain since last time I went to Disney I met with three imagineers on three different days and it cost me close to $200.

How do you do lunch with an imagineer? That sounds like fun?

You can book this through the dining or tour reservations. You can not however book it any further out than thirty days. They are held at the Brown Derby at MGM and include a 5 course meal (a choice of 3 entrees) and a specially designed ,signed plate by the imagineer. There is a limit on how many they will take for each meal. During the beginning of feb, only a lunch was available and on certain days only, but was told they may add a dinner during the busier months. Dont wait until the last minute as they do fill up. You dont pay in advance like a tour, instead you get a standard check at the end of the meeting. My total was $75.00 but prices may vary. I was told there are about 15 imagineers that are involved and it depends on their schedules of who you will get. Ours was Deb Petterson a Graphics Fabrication designer who spent the last 2 years on EE and spent some time at Hong Kong.
