Animal Questions from Disney's AK

Ok, I need help and I know ya'll can give it to me!!

On our trip to Disney in June, we went to Animal Kingdom. I took a BUNCH of pictures, mostly of the animals. I went to bigzoo.com (or whatever that website was) ?! and it helped alot but I still have a couple critters I haven't figured out what they are. What kind of animal is Timon from Lion King? I KNOW I know it, but can't remember. Can anyone help me?

I think he's a meerkat

Yes, he is a meerkat. Any other ?'s about animals we would be glad to help! DS 5 is an animal expert...seriously!!

A Meerkat......great, thanks everyone! I knew someone would remember. I totally went blank!

DW.....Now that you mention it and make the offer, yea, I do have a few more that I couldn't remember or figure out....we have a pix of an animal that looks like a zebra but his stripes are brown and black and are only on his hips. Have another of an animal that I thought was an antelope of some kind but not certain. He's brown with white legs and very long antlers. I have an angle shot of his side and rear so can't see his face to get any markings. He also has a very short tail; just barely comes to the bottom of his "bottom"! All of these animals were on the safari.

I have a couple more pix that i can't figure out what they are too.
One is a monkey of some sort.....he's beautiful! Black back, w/long white hair on his arms, a sweet little face w/white eyebrows and white circle that goes under his jaw and a VERY long white tail. I thought he was some kind of a Gibbon (sp?) but can't confirm that. I know he's not a spider monkey....too big. He's about the size of a chimp.

I also have a picture of 2 birds that I think are some kind of crested cranes but again, can't find anything on them. They're
white w/dark blue or black feathers/wings that lay over their backs and have black faces w/white on their cheeks and a red spot on their jaws. The crown on top is white. Very pretty birds -- I'm sure they're some kind of a crane.

The first animal you are describing sounds like an Okapi which is actually related to the giraffe, and the monkey sounds like a Colobus. I don't really know about the birds though.

Hey Everyone........just wanted to send a quick note to thank everyone for their feedback and help w/my animal name search.
I finally finished the 2 pages from The Safari portion as well as the Pangani Trail pictures and have most of them named.
