I will be staying at Animal Park Lodge Savannah view Nov 2nd for 4 days. Can someone tell me what room numbers to request in my fax preference? I know I want to stay on the 3rd floor and looking out onto the inner savannah. I`ve seen a few maps with the numbers but are too small to decipher.

Im so excited!!

Thanks,

The inner savannah is Arusha. Kudu trail is our favorite. Have a great time!

Hi.. keep your requests simple, Arusha Savanna, 3rd Floor.

They may be only able to grant one request... so put first whatever is most important to you.

Kudu and Zebra trails have the same view so it does not matter which one you or on, except Zebra is closer to the pool.

Good Luck

I thought that Disney was no longer honoring fax requests. If the request isn't made on your room reservation then they can't guarantee anything. Apparently the resorts were being overwhelmed with faxes.

They honored all our requests at CBR earlier this month.;) Not sure if we will send in one at AKL next month. We did request bunks on the reservation though.

Arusha was booked when we were there, but we really enjoyed our Zebra trail, Uzima Savannah view, 4th floor. Seeing the sunrise was wonderful each morning, we had 3-4 giraffe outside our room twice a day, and we were very close to the pool and restaurants.

No matter where you end up at AKL (Animal Kingdom Lodge) I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!

We just got back from a 5th floor room on the Sunset Savannah and in our opinions, they really shouldn't call it a savannah view room. The only time we ever saw any animals on it (except for the occasional small bird) was very late at night, after 11pm, when the animals would go to sleep in front of our room, and when I made my nightly pilgrimages to the bathroom, courtesy of my future daughter kicking my bladder all night long. Of course that only helped me, not the rest of our party since they all slept through that. Also, when there were animals out there at night, it was not only too dark to see them, but the treetops basically hid our view anyway. They would wake up around 6am, eat, then leave by 7 when the rest of the family woke up. We had 2 rooms last trip (12/27-31/02), one on the Arusha Savannah and one on the Uzima Savannah, across the hall from each other on the 2nd floor, and both of those had beautiful views all day long. We asked to be changed this trip too since we didn't see any animals, and were told there were 2 rooms next to each other on the Uzima Savannah, but we'd have to wait 2 days to move. We didn't care about being next to each other, though we didn't want to be on opposite ends of the resort, so they found a few other rooms, but we would have had to pack all our stuff and move the next day after getting in after midnight and having an early breakfast PS at CP the next morning so we decided it wasn't worth it and thought the view would get better. Unfortunately it didn't and we should have just moved, but it was too late then. We're going back for 3 nights in June, concierge this time, and we're going to request to be on the 2nd floor, Arusha Savannah, even though the concierge rooms are on 5 and 6 because the view was so much better. Hopefully this is something they can do because I wouldn't ever want to stay high up again.

Hi,

I would not reconmend requesting a specific number. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great resort. I would request a view of the Arusha Savanna and whether or not you want a smoking or non-smoking room. I would not even request a floor as the view from our 5th floor concierge room in Feb was outstanding. No matter were you end up I am sure you have a great stay.

I disagree with the last post--I think if a certain floor is important to you then you should request it. We hated the 5th floor and felt very removed from the animals, whereas on the 2nd floor we were eye level with them. For us it made a huge difference in our view, while the last poster loved the 5th floor and possibly may not have been as happy on the 2nd floor. So if you've got a certain floor in mind, be sure to request it.

And if you're not sure which floor you would like, take a quick walk down one of the hallways, stop at the glass section between the building segments, and judge the view before you check in. Then go up a floor or two to see the difference. There's an outdoor staircase to each side of the big glass end of the main lobby, and elevators right off the lobby.

While I agree that some might not like the view from a higher floor what I was trying to get across was that requests are just that and my not be granted. Therefore I believe that sometimes people put a lot of effort into their requests and then when they are not granted they are disapointed.

If someone requests Arusha Savanna, non-smoking room on the third floor. That is considered three different requests and when the room assigner is assigning rooms if they can only meet one of your requests then so be it. In fact you might not get any of your requests. They only thing that you should get is a savanna view room. I just find that the more requests people put in the greater their chance of being disapointed.

When it comes to requests with Disney I have found that giving them the one that matters the most to you seems to work out the best. By all means people should feel free to request whatever they want as long as they keep in mind that their requests might not be granted.

We stayed at AKL this past July and luckily got all our requests-Zebra Trail, 3rd floor, bunkbed room. It was a special trip-one DS graduated from high school and one DS from middle school. You can fax your request but as others have said, put the most important request first. Most rooms on the Zebra Trail would have good views of the Arusha savannah, except maybe the ones on the very end. AKL is a beautiful resort. Good luck with you requests and have fun!

I just got back a few days ago, and loved our stay at AKL. I faxed in a request for the 3rd floor, zebra trail. It was perfect: we got a room just as requested with a view of the Arusha savannah. However, I would have been fine facing the Uzima savannah. I didn't request a specific savannah--just the floor and trail--as someone noted earlier, too many requests might be too hard for the assigner to fulfill.

Do think about the floor you want to stay on. As others have noted, you are closer to the animals on the lower floors, but don't see as much of the savannah. The higher floors give you a wider view of the savannah, but you're a bit more distant from the animals. Everyone has personal preferences, so definitely think about what you'd like.

NOTE: there are many public places to view the animals, including the lower levels, so you can certainly wander about. I think a lot of the fun of staying at the AKL is checking out the different savannahs and views from the various viewing locations. While your balcony is convenient, you don't have to confine yourself to your room to view the wildlife. :)
