Will children this young enjoy AK or should I wait? I am going to get tix for MVMCP one night so we can enjoy MK but they love animals and thought they would enjoy AK.

But I have heard alot of conflicting info regarding little ones and if AK if more of a bigger kid park.

Any opinions?

Actually, I think DAK is more kid friendly than MGM or even Epcot. The animal exhibits are great. Rafiki's Planet watch has a cool petting zoo. The safari ride is A+ for a toddler. There are many shows that they'll like such as The Lion King and Flights of Wonder.

Expedition Everest, the raft ride and probably Dinosaur are out. But it still is great for toddlers.

My 2 year old loved Animal Kingdom. We took her when she was 1 1/2 and again at 2.

She loved the following:
1. Tough to be a Bug 4D movie
2. Safari Ride
3. Donald's Breakfastosauras - character breakfast
4. Lion King show
5. Dino ride that is just like Dumbo
6. Dino play area, boneyard
7. Rafiki's planet watch
8. Riding to train to Rafiki's planet watch
9. Jammin' Jungle Parade
10. Animal Trails
11. Camp Minnie Micky

Believe me...there is plenty to do and they love the animals.

We don't love AK this is the first year we're going to try to spend a full day here. Usually we're done by 1pm, but we're trying the Flame Tree BBQ for dinner. I don't even think my kids have seen the parade here in years.

The last poster had a great listing that I'm just going to reinforce for you.

1. I think the Tough to be a Bug 4D movie might be alittle scary for some kids, but it only takes one viewing for you to know.
2. Safari Ride is very exciting to see all of the animals.
3. Donald's Breakfastosauras - character breakfast - this is a MUST - Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy come to your table for a buffet breakfast in a safari trading post environment.
4. Lion King show - my family passed this by for years and then we went in and it has become our favorite. One of the only places you will see Pumba and Simba. The monkeys are amazing.
5. Dino ride that is just like Dumbo
6. Dino play area, boneyard - My kids love the boneyard, just be prepared to walk with them through the cargo nets and up and down the stairs.
7. Rafiki's planet watch - be sure to wash your hands after you pet the animals and keep your eyes out for PUSH the talking trashcan.
8. Riding to train to Rafiki's planet watch
9. Jammin' Jungle Parade
10. Animal Trails - like a big zoo
11. Camp Minnie Mickey - sometimes you can see Brother Bear characters.

If you are only doing one park, definitely do MK. But if you are doing 2, do not miss AK. If they love animals they will like AK. It is a bigger park, maybe renting a double stroller would be necessary. This is our second favorite park and DD (who was barely 4 when we went last) still talks about it all the time.

Our 4 year old liked the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride, and Dinoland kiddie rides. She was a little scared of "It's tough to be a big." We spent a 1/2 day there because we only did 3 days of parks.

I think AK is a great option for kids that age for all the reasons previously mentioned. It's definitely a far better choice than MGM or Epcot.

Have a blast!

We went to AK when DD was almost 3. She loves animals and the zoo, but she really didn't like AK. She did like the Boneyard playground, but that was it. I feel part of the reason was the heat. It was so hot there. I felt the heat there more than any other park. We went last Sept. and the temps were in the 90s. We'll probably skip it this trip.

Every child is different. Some like things that others hate. The only way to find out if you child likes AK is to give it a go.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to post a reply....great information. None of us have every been to AK so I think we will give it a try. It should have something for everyone and seeing how we aren't going until late Nov hopefully it won't be too hot. Anyone have an opinion which day during Thanksgiving weekend would be better? Fri, Sat or Sun? THanks again! ºOº
