Quick question about AKV. What exactly does Value Accommodation mean? Is standard view room there worth switching from OKW? How far is it to Epcot, compared to OKW?
AKV is farther away from EPCOT than OKW. The value rooms are smaller than normal rooms at AKV. There is a total of 10 2 bedroom lock offs and 8 dedicated studios. In my opinion I would not switch.
As noted, "value" means the rooms are smaller than any others at AKV (or any other DVC resorts). Switching from a 1 or 2BR from OKW to AKV value is like switching from something that is the size of a suburban home to the size of a very small bungalow. You would basically be giving up about 500 sq ft of space. Switching from an OKW studio to a value AKV studio is like going from a very nicely sized deluxe resort hotel room to a room at a moderate. You would be giving up about 60 sq ft. With value you can get savanna view (40% of values), pool view (40%) or parking lot (20%) and view is not a booking category so its pot luck.
Standard (and savanna) view rooms at AKV are much larger than value, although still not in the same neighborhood as OKW (which has the largest rooms of all resorts). Kidani standard 1 and 2BRs are quite large (second only to OKW) and have extra bathroom. Jambo standard (and savanna) views, all sizes, are about the same size as rooms at BWV, BCV, VWL and SSR. Jambo standard and savanna view studios are about the same size as Kidani studios. Standard view, if you choose Jambo, guarantees pool view because all standards are pool view there. Standard view at Kidani gives you street or pool view (and no guarantee to get one or the other)
Distance from AKV is a few miles further to Epcot than OKW. However, AKV has an advantage in that it has only two internal bus stops, one at Kidani and one at Jambo, and trip can actually be quicker than OKW.
