Animal Kingdom strategy, critique please

We did the trails last July and found them to be quite hot. We did not want to stand and look at animals. We just wanted out. However, we have nice zoos around us so it is not a priority. We like AK for the other things.

Thanks Elsa.

What time of year do you go? Our girl hardly ever naps during the day while I understand a lot of kids her age do too. She also stays up late (I know, bad parenting...).

Do you think with all of the shows and 2 table service meals that we should be able to make it without a break? Again, also taking the frog togs and hydropack with ice water.

My just turned five year old did fine with all day touring a few years ago. It was in early Sept, so just as hot too. I think that AK has plenty of indoor activities like the shows with air conditioning, etc. and your are doing two sit down meals. I would go with your plan and make the decision on the spot if you need a break. My gut tells me that you will be fine! The evening show is at 9pm, so it's not like she will be waiting for super late fireworks or anything.

Thank you! I believe that is what we'll do. If it gets bad, we'll take the break and come back another day if needed. Obviously we'd come back later that night for some stuff and the Jungle Book show.

But I appreciate everyone's advice, we'll be bringing plenty of items to keep us cool. Looking at these Frogg Togg headbands in addition to the towels and I already have the camelback hydropack for plenty of water. Hopefully in late august we won't have the incredibly long lines.

I have two plans of attack now though, will type in here later when I have a chance.

Thanks everyone!

When we went a few years ago my DH was 9 turning 10 and DD was about a month from turning 3. We went from open to close most days in hot June weather and never left for mid day break. If we got too hot or wanted to rest we would do a indoor show or ride or sit down to eat. DD took a nap in her stroller a few times. We are from NC so kind of used to the heat and humidity, and neither of my kids have ever been big nappers though. I guess it depends on your family, you know them best! What we did was a safari in the AM, toured the trails and animal areas most of the early part of the day, ate lunch, another safari, then did the KRR and EE and whatever else we had left to do by then. By the end of the day EE was a walk on and we rode about 8 times in a row. I would definitely add in some time to see the animals if your kids are into that, my kids loved it.
