Hello! Can anyone tell me if the safari ride is really bumpy? I have a FP for it for tomorrow, but now I'm wondering if it will cause my husband too much pain. Thanks in advance!
I remember it being fairly bumpy. My dad who is 70 and has back issues opted not to ride. I remember my mom commenting that it would have been to bumpy for him.
It can be really bumpy, yes. Is he in pain now? I have a bad back but I just try to keep "loose" while I'm riding, or I take an Advil in the morning before going on it. Dinosaur! is just as bad, if not worse (in case you were going on that, too). If my back was already hurting, I'd be afraid of going on.
There are parts of the ride that can be pretty bumpy. At one part, the truck goes over a broken down bridge and it can shake the truck. I always make sure my little ones are in the middle of the bench so they don't get bumped out! (I know they won't go over the edge, but I always feel like they could go flying.)
Thank you all for the quick replies! Yes, he is in pain now and is never not in pain. He has to brace himself for things like speed bumps and if he doesn't, he really feels it I am starting to think maybe I should leave AK as a day when he stays home and I just take the kids by myself.
We were already planning on skipping Dinosaur (my son went on it a few years ago and still remembers how much he didn't like it), Kali, and pretty much all of the other rides (I was going to go on EE as a single rider).
Is the DAS card able to be used for shows? How does it work for them? He has a DAS card (for other issues that aren't related to his mobility/pain) and I'm not quite sure how to use it. We got it when we went to MK last week, but he didn't end up needing to use it.
If he is in pain now and braces for speed bumps I would definitely skip KS. It's not worth exacerbating health issues. I would recommend the train to rafiki's planet watch and walking through the animal areas instead.
Thank you all! I am glad I thought of it before we went on it... I would have felt horrible for him. We changed our plans and are going to Epcot in the morning. If he's still feeling okay by afternoon, we may drive over to AK to see a show or two. I'll save the safari for when I go with just the kids.
