I've heard it said that the Safari ride in AK is best done early in the day, since the animals tend to be more active then, and less so as the day gets hotter. But, we'll be going in January. Does anyone know whether this advice still holds for that time, or does the cooler weather mean the animals are active even in the afternoon.

Thanks!

It's also part of their routine. They start to head back towards where they are housed and fed as the day goes on - they know the drill.

That said, I enjoy both AM and PM safaris. If you can do both you will get a fuller experience - the Safari is so hit and miss anyway that multiple trips are usually required.

Generally when it is cooler the animals are more active. So if you are there when it is cooler throughout the day, the animals will tend to be active during the day as well. However there are times when some will start taking naps and such depending on what their usual schedule is.
