Animal Kingdom Rooms

Do all rooms at AKL have a window view or are some of them considered "inside rooms" with no view?

Do all views lead to animals or are their a lot of parking lot views, etc?

All rooms have sliding doors to a balcony.

The standard rooms/standard view are the rooms across the front of the hotel that face the parking lot. We booked one once for $119 and were bumped up to a fabulous savanna view. Last time we booked pool view for an extra $40 because we didn't want to chance parking view (although it isn't horrible), but were disappointed and never used balcony. Next time if I don't book savanna, I will chance the parking lot.

There are many many places around the hotel to view the animals from all levels and ground level. So no matter where your room is you have access to all other areas. Beautiful hotel that I wouldn't mind staying in a standard view room EXCEPT the lower levels, some which are very close to the bus loading area.

Luck, mostly. There's no sure-fire method for getting an upgrade, and if you get one you're just a very lucky person. At check-in you can ask the cast member if there are any Savannah (Boardwalk, water, garden, insert desired view here) rooms available. Ask very, very nicely w/ a big ol' smile. Don't ask for a *free* upgrade; they may offer it for free or they may ask you to pay more, at which time you can decline.

Whatever you do, don't count on an upgrade, or be angry if you don't get one. It's one of those lucky things that happens every once in a while, so just be happy if it does.

I don't know. I think I was just looking happy to be there and friendly, and he says "Would you like 2 queen or a queen and bunks". I said I would like bunks for the kids (had them at WL and it worked well). He said "Would it be okay if we upgraded you to a savanna room". I said "Well if you must, then it will be okay with me, thank you".

I keep hearing that they have just so many standard view, but they are always overbooking them. Keeps the hotel full. Don't know if that is the case. I will take that magic any day
