What are good places to eat at AK?
Can you get to AKL from AK for possible dinner PS?
TIA
kim

While the food is mostly counter service in AK, I think it is all pretty good, and I am not the easiest person to please. We have especially liked Tuskers, by the safari. The food is good, good options for those wanting to stay more healthy, and outside just around the corner you can watch the almost constant dancing/performing that is always fun. Flame Tree BBQ is supposed to be good too. I have also hear the potstickers from the chicken shop in Asia are fantastic!

As for making a ps for akl, I don't know. I don't think there is a walk in entrance to AK for those staying at AKL. I think everyone has to ride the bus. It is close though, so I am sure it would work out. Both Boma's and Jiko are supposed to amazing.

Best wishes!

Flame Tree BBQ is the best counter service we've had IMO. It's really good and has outside seating areas to the side. Tusker House is supposed to be really good, but we have only had their cinnamon rolls.

Yes you must ride the bus for the short ride to AKL. So if you are at AKL after AK closing you will have to have another transfer point to get to your resort (or taxi). Both Jiko and Boma are great and would be worth the extra effort. If you do go make sure to leave some time to view the animals on the resort savannahs.

We ate lunch at Tuskerhouse last year and it was really good - this year we are going to try Flame Tree.

The first year we went we had a lunch PS for Rainforest cafe and it was bad - I will never go back there again! Bad Service , just ok Food , and very pricey for what you got !!

I've heard this often about all Rainforest Cafe Restaurants....I've never eaten at one, but I've heard they are not great.

I have eaten at RainForest Cafe (not at WDW) only once and that was one time too many. :crazy2:

The bus ride over to AKL is definately worth the trip. We allowed 1 hour before our ps so that we could check out the lodge. We had dinner at Boma's and can't wait to go again.

We stayed at the Cr, so when we were finished we took the bus to Epcot and jumped on the monorail to TTC to switch monorail to the CR. Sounds like alot, but really wasn't that bad. I'm sure there would have been easier. Where are you staying?

We are staying at the CBR august 7 - august 14th!!!!!
I just wish it was sooner. The ak was not much of interest when we went before so I am unsure if we will eat ther or not. But thanks for the info.

In 2002 we ate at Boma after AK closed. We were staying at CR and took the bus to AK that am and rode the bus to ALK. We planned on tkaing a DD bus from AL to DD then catch one to CR. However we ended up leaving ALK about 30 min after MK closed and the busses from MK to ALK were still running. We asked the driver if we could ride back to MK with him. He radioed and asked permission to just let us off at CR.

Rainforest Cafe at AK is a Rainforest Cafe. The same as the others around the country. Its really nothing special, except it sits outside of AK.

For counterservice you can't beat Tusker House in Harrambe.

If you want sit down, you can take the bus to AKL and eat at Boma or Jiko. Boma is open for breakfast and dinner and Jiko is only open for dinner.
