Animal Kingdom or POFQ??

We were actually considering the same two resorts when we planned our trip for last summer. When we discovered that we could rent points for a two-bedroom at AKL-Kidani for the same price as two rooms at POFQ, we made the choice for Kidani.

I know you are probably considering Jambo, but consider renting points for Kidani. It was just so magical. We didn't even have a savannah view, and it was awesome. The two-bedroom suite is like having two rooms; my parents stayed with us, and they could close the door of "their" section and have some space. We had three bathrooms and a washer and dryer, and also a full kitchen! We stocked up on drinks and breakfast items.

It was also very quiet! Sometimes we didn't even see another party/person in our hallways when we were coming and going. Inside the room, we never heard anything outside the room. It was so relaxing and peaceful. One evening when we were swimming, there was one other family at the pool. This was the first week in June!

I really don't get the statements that say you are "so far away" from everything. It was our first trip, so I guess I don't understand. We never felt too far away from anything. We just hopped a bus, although we did drive there, so our car was available. We mostly left it in the parking lot, though.

We had a three-year-old, too. We did a break every day except for our last day when she happened to fall asleep in the stroller. We did plenty of back and forth from all parks, and we had the dining plan with ADRs to get to. Of course it was our first trip, so maybe we don't know what we're missing from being in that location.

We have vacationed at both resorts and I am throwing in another vote for AKL. Although POFQ was very nice and we love the convenience of the boat to DTD, you can't beat the atmosphere at AKL. Our upcoming trip was supposed to be my son and I and we were booked in a LM room at AoA. My mother is now joining us so we switched to AKL for the bigger rooms, more food options, and because I know my mom won't join us at the park everyday. There are so many places she can retreat and read or relax and watch the animals. The lounge is very nice too. She can also walk over to Kidani and check it out if she wants. We also had very good luck with the bus system the last time we stayed there. We have a pool room booked too, btw. The rooms are nicely centrally located by Mara, the pool (obviously), Simba's clubhouse, the laundry facilities, and the Arcade. We found FQ to be quiet and relaxing too, but definitely lacked the WOW factor. Good luck with whatever you decide.

One more question- We would also consider Wilderness Lodge if they had a discount as well. I see for Jan-Mar the discount for AKL is 35%, whereas WL is 25%. Is that typical --is WL's discounts not as much as the other deluxe discounts?
