We were actually considering the same two resorts when we planned our trip for last summer. When we discovered that we could rent points for a two-bedroom at AKL-Kidani for the same price as two rooms at POFQ, we made the choice for Kidani.
I know you are probably considering Jambo, but consider renting points for Kidani. It was just so magical. We didn't even have a savannah view, and it was awesome. The two-bedroom suite is like having two rooms; my parents stayed with us, and they could close the door of "their" section and have some space. We had three bathrooms and a washer and dryer, and also a full kitchen! We stocked up on drinks and breakfast items.
It was also very quiet! Sometimes we didn't even see another party/person in our hallways when we were coming and going. Inside the room, we never heard anything outside the room. It was so relaxing and peaceful. One evening when we were swimming, there was one other family at the pool. This was the first week in June!
I really don't get the statements that say you are "so far away" from everything. It was our first trip, so I guess I don't understand. We never felt too far away from anything. We just hopped a bus, although we did drive there, so our car was available. We mostly left it in the parking lot, though.
We had a three-year-old, too. We did a break every day except for our last day when she happened to fall asleep in the stroller. We did plenty of back and forth from all parks, and we had the dining plan with ADRs to get to. Of course it was our first trip, so maybe we don't know what we're missing from being in that location.
