I'm going to try to explain this the best I can. Has anyone ever stayed on the "outside savannah". What I mean by this is that the lodge is shaped like a horseshoe. There are rooms on the outside of it facing land. Are animals on those sides? I would like the Zebra Trail, but don't want to look at the building in the distance. Any help on this would be great.

If you're looking at the AKL map, on the left hand side of the "outside the horseshoe" is Sunset/Sunset? Savannah. That was our view and we enjoyed it very much. We were there for 8 nights and got to where we could just about set our watch to the animals behaviors. Around 5pm every day, there would be two or three giraffe eating from a tree outside our room, etc. You can't see the hotel building, but you can, if you look real hard, see a fence and even a barn? building in the distance. It's not real obvious or anything. The people pen is on that side too, but it was way to the left of our view as we had to lean out over the balconey to see it.

We just returned from Kudu trail on the Sunset Savannah side. It was wonderful and we had 4 giraffes outside every day.

The inner ring is the Arusha Savana.

The outer ring on the left side off the kudu trail is the Sunset Savana... on the right side of the Zebra trail it is Poolview rooms and then much further down it is the Uzima Savanna.

Arusha is said to be the "prime" viewing area however I have heard lots of good things about sunset - which has ostriches! (No ostriches on arusha)

Uzima is a bit of a mystery - I have not heard too much about it - I know there is Giraffes but I am not sure what else out there.

Here is a map with the savanna marked in pen (it might help)

Remember if you are unhappy with your savanna view you can always visit the front desk and ask politely for a different roo location. As long as the hotel is not at full occupancy they should be able to help you :)

We stayed on Uzima Savannah two years ago and loved it. There were a variety of animals including giraffes (our favorite!) all day and evening. At first we were disappointed that we didn't get Arusha, but after seeing the whole resort we really liked Uzima because you were always close to the animals because it is a smaller savannah. It looked to us that because of Arusha's size you could end up in an area that could put you quite a distance from where the animals like to hang out.

We were on the fourth floor, which was good, but I think perfect would have been on the second or third. You would look directly at the animals instead of down at them.
