Animal Kingdom Lodge snack credits?

Anyone stayed at AKL before?

DW and I are going there September 19th for 14 nights. We are on the DDP and want to know if there is anywhere at the resort where we can use a snack credit. We usually buy a drink or snack for breakfast and then have an early lunch, so if we could do this from the resort before we get to the parks this would save some time.

So we're after a drink, cold or bottled or coffee and some kind of snack (fruit or cake) that we can buy from Animal Kingdom Lodge using our snack credits.

Any ideas?

subbing. I'd like to know too. We are doing the QS dining plan...are there items available for breakfast that a snack credit can be used for (since I'll have my mug and can get my coffee that way)?

The Jambo House has the Mara (CS Restaurant). There is a wide variety of breakfast items (hot and cold), coffees, juices, and the like. The muffins, pastries, fruits, and prepackaged items can be purchased with snack credits as well as CS credits.

Morning all.

Stayed there last summer. There is a CS restaurant on-site. The Mara, good food, they have a cooler section there with lots of snack. Zebra Domes is one that comes to mind. However, I've never had them - but folks rave about them on the boards.

There is cake, cold drinks, pastries, coffee etc.

There is also the gift shop Zawadi Marketplace which has a cooler with drinks and what not. I'm not sure if you are able to use Dining plan credits there though. Just can't remember, I'm sure some one else can chime in on that one.

Staying at AKL is a great experience. You shouldn't have any trouble finding something there.

That's great, thanks for the info. If we can get a snack and use it as breakfast on our way to the parks, we'll save some decent time that we can use once inside the parks. Should keep us going till lunchtime too!!

Mara has a selection of snacks like fruit,chips, pastries, salads, and drinks, there's also a drink station for your mugs. I go to AKL just to get a snack called Zebra Domes.

Zebra Domes are a little piece of heaven in a box. LOL When I was there in January my sister and I were looking for a snack one night. We decided on a piece of carrot cake and the zebra domes. We wished we had skipped the carrot cake, those zebra domes were awesome! They look almost like truffles, they're small, probably 2 bites per dome. They have cake on the bottom with some sort of a chocolate mouse filling and then they are covered in chocolate with white chocolate swirls (thus a zebra... and they are dome shaped). VERY tasty! I can't wait to go back in November and have some more!!

To the OP, you can also use snack credits at the store as well as at the Mara. The store is convenient because it has an exit that leads out towards the bus stops. The Mara is further away from the bus stop, so if you're just looking for something quick like a bottled beverage or piece of fruit this might be the better option for you.

I just wanted to say "Hi" and we are will staying at AKL for the 1st time Sept. 25th--Oct 3rd and may run into you there--our trips overlap. Are you as excited as I amCan't wait!

Zawadi is accessible right off of the lobby and has your standard grocery store/rest-stop type items while the Mara is a counter serve place that also offers pretty much everything for snack credits as well. Just a note, because I've never seen anyone mention it before and it's not really marked well on the maps, but the ONLY way to get to the Mara is through the outdoor pool area. There's no entrance from inside the building. Something good to know on your first night there during a massive rainstorm where it was coming down so hard that it didn't matter the walkway was covered.

That door will only help if you take the elevator bank near Simba's Cubhouse. That elevator is on the zebra trail. Go to the first floor and exit the building. The "hidden" entrance to The Mara is located immediately past the restrooms on your right. The entrance is in the seating area, not near the checkout stands. You still have to go outside, but the walk is much shorter. That is, unless you aren't convenient to the zebra trail.

We were just at AKL two weeks ago. I HIGHLY recommend the cream cheese coffee cake. It's available in the bakery area to the left of the ordering line. Yummy! The zebra domes were just OK in our book.
