My parents are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the AKL coming up this year, and we're arriving a few days before them. I got one of their old magic bands from a previous trip that is still active and I plan on getting into their room before they arrive so I can decorate it.

Can anyone tell me about that the layout of the outside of the room is? Typically I've done window decorations before (POFQ, POR, ASSP) but I assume these indoor rooms don't have an outside window. Do they have a sliding glass door? They're staying in one of the savannah view rooms.

I need to make decorations and could use help from anyone who has stayed previously. Thank you!

There is a sliding door (not windows) which I wouldn't bother decorating. #1 Decorations will impede the awesome savanna view and #2 could make it difficult to slide the door open and shut.
How about decorations in the room? Flowers would be nice, or candy, or champagne. No balloons at AKL.

There's a sliding glass door that leads to the balcony. If they're staying on the Villas side, DVC asks that no decorations be visible from outside the room. They also request doors not be decorated.

Just be prepared that you won't be able to get into their room before they arrive.

I did their whole reservation for them - online check-in, headed to my phone number with a room number and an OK to check in text/email. :)

Thanks for the advice, folks!

But not everyone that does Online Check In gets to Bypass The Front Desk. Some guests still have to stop by the front desk to get their room number. Just be prepared you might have to wait until they get there.

Oh no - here's hoping not. If so, I'll decorate it when they're at Disney Springs on their arrival (non-park) day.:) Thanks for the heads up!
