I always stay off site because I thought it would be "too much" (in the Disney-overpowering way, not talking about financially too much!) to stay at Disney. But I now really am interested in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The idea of seeing animals from your balcony sounds amazing.

A few Q's:

Does anyone have any photographs taken from Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Or any sites offering such?

Where would I have to stay to see the animals?

Cheers

If ever we stay at a Disney resort then I think that AKL would be the one I would choose, it looks amazing.

Got a few AKL pictures on our website - www.dodisney.info

Log on and follow the photo link on the left hand side.

NOT LONG NOW - LOOK AT MY COUNTDOWN..........

Great photos but I must admit I am not too sure about the rope bridge. :rotfl:

Savannah view for the animals, I do not know how to post pics, sorry. The rope bridge...I have stayed there 3 times and not used it!LOL!

DH, myself, and DS's (12 & 16) stayed at AKL for 1 night in June. We added an extra night to the beginning of our trip and couldn't have it added to our YC ressie. So we chose the AKL. I have wanted to stay there since it opened. I am so glad we did!!! I  it!!!

Now, I am the big animal lover in my family. I spent a lot of time on the balcony. Pay for the savannah view....it's worth it! DH and DS (16) weren't as impressed as DS (12) and I. He and I walked all over the place. We went swimming in the pool (which we thought was great!) We even did the rope bridge in the lobby. There was a CM from Africa giving a little lecture on his homeland in a small room next to the rope bridge upstairs. That was very interesting. We also enjoyed the storytelling (although we only caught the very end of it). I would have spent another night here just to catch that.

We ate at Boma's. I liked it more than my picky men. But I try to be adventurous. Even if I really didn't like something, at least I could say that I tried it.

I have always said that if I could go anywhere in the world, I would choose an African safari. So, I really enjoyed myself here. I do see where someone without the same tastes would not like it as much. DH is glad he spent the one night, but says he wouldn't stay here again. He liked the YC much more.
I would gladly stay here again. Everything was very clean and the CM's were wonderful!!! :lovestruc

If you do stay there, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!!

Thanks all.

Another view from our balcony

This photograph has just sold the idea for me.

I have already booked a hotel on I Drive, but will book two nights into Animal Lodge if its not too complicated to do so. This would be good for my CRT breakfast/lunch. The view looks superb.

I have never wanted to stay at Disney for the whole of my trip, but people on these boards have given me the idea to stay for a few nights, then back to I Drive.
