DH, myself, and DS's (12 & 16) stayed at AKL for 1 night in June. We added an extra night to the beginning of our trip and couldn't have it added to our YC ressie. So we chose the AKL. I have wanted to stay there since it opened. I am so glad we did!!! I

it!!!
Now, I am the big animal lover in my family. I spent a lot of time on the balcony. Pay for the savannah view....it's worth it! DH and DS (16) weren't as impressed as DS (12) and I. He and I walked all over the place. We went swimming in the pool (which we thought was great!) We even did the rope bridge in the lobby. There was a CM from Africa giving a little lecture on his homeland in a small room next to the rope bridge upstairs. That was very interesting. We also enjoyed the storytelling (although we only caught the very end of it). I would have spent another night here just to catch that.
We ate at Boma's. I liked it more than my picky men. But I try to be adventurous. Even if I really didn't like something, at least I could say that I tried it.
I have always said that if I could go anywhere in the world, I would choose an African safari. So, I really enjoyed myself here. I do see where someone without the same tastes would not like it as much. DH is glad he spent the one night, but says he wouldn't stay here again. He liked the YC much more.
I would gladly stay here again. Everything was very clean and the CM's were wonderful!!!
If you do stay there, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!!
