i just returned from 6 days & nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. we had a savannah view. it was absolutely beautiful! if anyone has any questions about this resort i am here to help! :earsboy:

Did you attend the storytelling around the firepit at night? If so, does it get crowded here. It doesn't appear to have very many chairs around the firepit. Do people stand around and listen or is it not an issue? Thanks for your help. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

How was transportation? Did you use it? Did you book a Savanna View...where was your room? Is there area's to walk around the resort...I know there are no walking paths...but what about the area around the pool? Glad to hear you had a good time.

I can answer about the firepit...Yes, the chairs fill up quickly, and there aren't that many of them. We weren't that captivated by it...We listened for a few minutes and then walked away. It wasn't all that, if you know what I mean.

What Savannah view did the OP have? We just returned and we had Uzima Savannah, but wanted Arusha.

I'd love to hear more about the resort. We stayed there in 2001 but only for 2 nights. We are staying there in Oct. for 4 nights. I booked a standard room. Where can I take my kids to see the animals? Thanks!

we had a savannah view on the zebra trail (i think that was what it was called). it was a HIKE from the room to the busses! the busses to the parks didnt come all that frequently, sometimes we had a good 20 minute wait for a bus, maybe even longer. we used the magical express - i am glad we packed an overnight carry-on bag because we didnt get our luggage until the next morning (we arrived at the hotel at 11 and our bags arrived there sometime around 2:30am). the good thing with magical express is we were able to check in our bags and then go to the magic kingdom for the last day. our flight was at 7:31pm and we had to be back at the hotel for the magical express bus at 4:45 which we thought was way too early but it took us an hour and a half to get to the airport because the bus had to stop at 2 other resorts. but all in all i would recommend the magical express, it definitely is convenient...the animal kingdom lodge is really beautiful, i loved it there! we didnt attend storytelling but my DS10 went to the arcade & had a blast there. i got to do laundry so i was happy! :earsboy:

We were lucky the week we went. Most of the time at the resort we didn't wait but about ten minutes for the buses. We did have one day from one of the parks, AK I think, when it seemed to take forever. They may have had a wheelchair to load/unload at the other end or such. But, most of the time we were real lucky.:)
We were in room 3562, also down Zebra trail. It was a walk admittedly, but the view was great at our end.;)

Did you do any laundry? Is there a laundry room on every floor? Is it crowded?

yes i did laundry!!! the laundry room was right by simba's cubhouse. it wasnt crowded at all. i think there may be 2 laundry rooms - one on each side of the resort. i wish i had known id have time for laundry because i had to pay $1 for tide, $1 for downy, etc, but its ok, i brought home mostly clean clothes!! :cool1:

I would like to stay here but my husband is hard to convince. Do you have any pictures of the room and the resort that you would like to share?

Did you use the pool? Was it crowded? and how late is it open til. I can't seem to find any plae in the net that can give me pool hours.

we go in 73 days :cool1:

Thanks for the pic link. Does anyone have any pictures of the view from a savannah room? If so, which building were you in?

I just booked 3 nights at All-Star Music & 4 nights at AKL savannah view for October.

I love the AKL! We went there for dinner at Jiko's last week. I like Boma a little better because it is more family friendly, but the food at Jiko's was really good. These pics are from last week.

I am staying for 2 nights on november 2/3rd i hear that you have to book in advance for a table in Boma. I have booked a savannah room and hope to experience sitting on the balocony of an evening and early morning watching a few of the animals i am really looking forward to staying at AKL.
