Our first day in I am thinking about going to AK, been to Disney 10 times, never been to AK. I thought it would be a low key park after an early day of traveling. Would like to eat at Boma. Are they close enough to do this. I don't think I can get to AK before 2:00 p.m. Ideas for what to focus on at AK and what to skip would be appreciated and reviews on Boma. Thanks

When are you going? It is really hot there in the afternoon, that is the last place I'd want to be after traveling all day. Also in the summer, you get those pm storms. We just got back from a 10 day trip, and never got rained on, so you just don't know. Rained in MK, we were at AK etc.
after 2 the crowds really thin out. You don't want to miss Festival of the Lion King, the Safari, a bugs life.
The bird show, Countdown to extinction, and take the time to really look around.

If you are going in cooler weather, that would be great.

AK closes the earliest, so you could go to Boma's for sure after the park closes. will you have a car or be doing the bus? It isn't close enough to walk to , but about short bus ride.

We love Boma's, go once each trip. But it is a different taste.

Also depends on where you are staying, it's a little bit of travel out to AK,
depending on how every one feels, you may want to do DTD or pool, and plan a big character dinner or nice dinner out that night , and get going early the next am.

Really depends on how long you will be there, where you are staying, who's in the group...ages, when you are going etc. But if you don't mind the heat and humidity and possible rain, you can do AK in the afternoon, go to Bomas after it closes.
You may not get to do everything, but you could hit the high spots

The bus from AK to AKL is only about a 5 min. ride. We love Boma's.There is lots of choice for everyone. Try a little of all the soups and the Zebra domes for dessert. At AK our favourite after the safari are The wonders of Flight ,the 2 trails to see the gorillas and tigers etc. Kali river rapids is fun but short and you will get wet.The tree of life is fantastic and A Bug's Life is fun. Check out Mt. Everest, you dont say when you will be there. Its a great park.IMHO

for us, the must do and sees are safari, dinosaur, kali, festival of the lion king, tough to be a bug, and tarzan rocks. take some time walk the animal paths. skip rafiki. you will have time to get those done. grab a fastpass to safari or dinosaur as soon as you enter the park. boma will be open after the park closes. we liked boma, even my picky eating daughters found much to enjoy there. sounds like a great day for you.

Hey, I've just been looking at the UK official disney site (disney.co.uk) and found a clip of one of my favourite AK rides: Primeval Whirl. It's always nice to know what to expect if you've not been on before. It's got other short films too which are great to help build the excitement! I would agree that getting to AK so late is a bit of a waste. It'll be busy, probably stormy and so hot that you won't be able to see any animals on another favourite Kilimanjaro Safari.

I hope you rethink your schedule, if you really want to head to a park and it's stormy try epcot as a lot of it is inside. Whatever you do definately visit AK

I think the not to miss attractions are: The Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, and Festival of the Lion King(which is a show but definitely one of the best live shows in Disney). Tough to be a Bug and Primeval Whirl are alot of fun too. That covers most of AK, but there are some tails that are pretty cool if you have the time to take a look. Also I wasn't very impressed with Kali River Rapids at all. I went when it first opened so I ended up waiting an hour for the shortest river/water rapids ride I had ever been on! That said the theme of the rapids ride was cool, so I would say if you dont mind getting wet and there isnt a long wait go for it. But go for it before you're getting ready to leave the park for the day, otherwise you'll be walking aroud with squishy shoes and heavy drenched clothing all day. :flower:
