Animal Kindgom at Night!

Anyone have suggestions for what time is best to do the safari at night in June? It is best to see animals at dusk or when it is completely dark? If anyone has been recently since the park has been open at night, please offer any suggestions you have in regard to the safari or any other attractions for nighttime.

You want to do Everest in complete darkness.

Safari in complete darkness - not so much. I did it at sunset/dusk back in January and it was well worth it, and I was still able to see since it wasn't dark yet. The lions were active and vocal, and a lot of the other animals that just lay in the water during the day time were up and moving. Definitely see different animals than morning safaris. Lots of giraffes in the morning - didn't see a single one at sunset.

Look up the sunset time for your AK day and pick your fp+ time based on that.

If your not on the truck within 10-15 minutes of dusk, it's just a night ride where you barely see anything. some really love it, I personally want to see the animals.. Now if you can time it to be on the truck about dusk I love it as many of the animals are done being lazy and waking up for the hunt or moving around to hide before the hunt.

It'd be cool if they could institute the "Night Vision Goggles" like they have for the Starlight Safari at AKL. That'd be worth a night time safari for sure!

Thanks for the suggestions! I booked a FP from 8:15-9:15. I looked up the dusk time for the day we will be there and it is estimating 8:53 pm. So hopefully that window will get us on at the right time!

I second this. We rode it right before sunset and it was fun. We didn't see as many animals as we normally do in the morning but we saw things we had never seen before. The lions were out in force, it was like a scene from the Lion King movie. I am really looking forward to AK at dark. I've never ridden EE at night.
