I am considering spending a full day at the Animal Kingdom on Dec 24. They will have extra magic hours in the evening. Should we stay after dark or should we instead spend half a day at the AK and go to MK for the evening? We will spend only one full day at WDW, arriving on Dec 23rd leaving on Dec 25.

Sorry, I misread your post. If you've only got ONE day at WDW....pick carefully. That's a busy time of year. You could probably see the biggies at AK, and still spend an evening at MK. It's pretty expensive to hop for one day though. Going on EE is great, and the new Nemo show would be interesting....but if I only had one day, at that time of year, I'd probably spend the entire day at MK. I like to see each park after dark, but only one day changes things.

I agree, very $$$ to hop for 1 day, and the time it will take to get from one park to the other, and on such a busy day, one wouldn't see everything that they wanted to at 1 park anyway, let alone 2.

IMO If MK is on your list, I would go there for the day. Alternatively, if it is AK that you are really wanting to do, I would plan to stay there for the day, and then if it so happens that you did what you want, and want to head over to MK, add on the hopper at that point.

In other words, don't plan for more than 1 park, but if it works out that you can, bonus. :O)

The animals go to sleep after dark! :rotfl:

Darn, I thought maybe they all got to come out to the park and go on the rides or something.

Actually, I find that the Animal Kingdom is not all that great in the dark. I stayed for extra hours one night last December (it gets dark around 5:30). The lighting isn't very bright so you really can't see much of the animals or landscaping.

Just want to add a warning, the safari ride will be closed before dark, so even with an EMH night the safari ride will be down. Right now the last ride leaves at 4:45 pm.
