I think animal cruelty is the worst thing that could happen to something that innocent. This video makes me cry and everytime I see that commercial. I dont see how someone could hurt and abuse an animal. Where does your state stand in being anti-cruelty?

A good felony anti-cruelty law should:

* Apply to all animals.
* Apply to first-time offenders.
* Have large fines and lengthy prison time as penalties.
* Have no exemptions.
* Allow or require convicted abusers to get counseling at their own expense.
* Prohibit abusers from possessing animals or living where animals are
present

I think hurting animals is worse than hurting people, because animals are defensless and most people don't care about them as much as they do people. I wish that people who purposely hurt animals could get life sentences or maybe even death. I truly think that if you hurt an animal purposly that you are not even worth talking to.

Honestly, I've never really thought that much into animal cruelty. Yeah, it's awful and twisted but it never really affected me, kwim? I've never really known much about it.

Until, that is, I saw this awful clip of dog-fighting.

Now I'm not saying I'm going to get all passionate about saving animals, because honestly, I'm not. It just pulls at my heart-strings more than it used to.

I watch Animal planet and the ASPCA shows.
It makes me sad when they don't get the animals in time but it makes me happy when they do.
Of course I'm against animal Cruelty.

as wrong as this may seem to some people, i would feel more guilty if i killed an animal than i would if i killed a person.
like i cry and pray when i see a poor deer on the side of the road but when my mom says something like she heard about someone dying it doesnt really affect me (unless its personal). does anyone else have feelings this strongly against animal abusers? i personally think they should suffer the same fate for murdering an animal as someone that murders another person wheather it be the death sentence or life in jail. anyone else?

im with everyone else in here.. its really a terrible thing... and i dont think anyone is gonna say that that they would support animal cruelty lol... but something that i find funny is that a lot of people are only against animal cruelty to certain animals... for example... a lot of people are against hunting (unless its for food)... however, those same people would go fishing for fun.. even if you release the fish back, its still really cruel.. i mean.. how would you feel if someone just put a hook through your mouth and dragged your whole body from it X_X ... iono.. i just find that a bit ironic lol

yeah, its pretty insane.
ive been a vegetarian for like 3 years almost (and proud of it),
and all i can say is if you dont like, do something about it. not anything extreme or anything but do some research.
i only use specific shampoos and conditioners, make up and stuff like that. i go as cruelty free as i can.

but really, look into it. it really makes you feel good about yourself.

This is how I see it. Im not disagreeing with you. I am totally against animal cruelty! I have done everything in my might to save all kinds of animals from being abused. But when you said something about fishing and hunting. I fish and hunt. And it just doesnt seem the same to me. I dont know why though. When you said that it came to mind that it is animal abuse. But I'm from Louisiana. I was raised like this. To hunt and fish. People use to kill animals to live: deer,squirrel,duck,fish, ect. They didnt kill dogs and horses ect. Thats how I see it. But then it also doesn't make since. The law is any kind of animal. But then hunting and fishing doesnt count.to me Its a way of life. If the people way back then didnt kill that one deer or that squirrel then most of us wouldnt be here cause they would have starved and died.

I am agaisnt animal cruelty. I've been volunteering at an animal shelter for a year but in that year I've seen so many abused and beaten animals and It just breaks my heart to see them. But I know I'm doing a good thing by helping them. I was at the shelter one day when and older volunteer comes in with about 3 little carriers each about about 3 puppies in. He said theese puppies were living at a home and they were living at a house where dog fighting took place. I took the puppies out of their carriers and looked at each of them some were unharmed but some were badly cut and scrapped. The mom of theese puppies had one eye.
It just makes me sick that people could harm theese poor creatures who have never hurt them.

If you're going to be against animal cruelty, then you're against animal cruelty. Not just towards certain animals, kwim?

Well, it all depends on what the animals are raised for, imo. If a cow is raised for meat, than it has certain adaptions for being a meat cow. It'll get fatter quicker, and since it probably doesn't have much contact with other cows (it won't be living in a natural herd), it'll probably be stupider. Deer in hunting ranges are more in tune, they have a pretty fair advantage when a hunter comes. And when you kill an animal for meat, you're not going to make them suffer, and I doubt you'll neglect feeding them (who wants to eat skin and bones?).

Pets are domesticated and adapted to the soft life of a pet. They are raised to trust humans as their caretakers. And people who neglect pets let them die slow, painful deaths of starvation or of them beating their pets and the inflicted wounds getting infected (9 times outta 10 it'll be infected) usually. and some people even intentionally torture animals.

It's also a slight matter of how smart the animal is. even the biggest animal rights crazy-wacky PETA member would swat a mosquito. What they don't realize is fish aren't much smarter than a mosquito.

Here's a way to look at it: Hooking a fish isn't like hooking a kitten.

Animal Cruelty is horrible. The worst part is, they are not humans, they cant speak up and tell someone. I love Animal Cops on Animal Planet. That is a great show.
