Animal Crossing HELP

HEY GUYS! I just bought a DS and Animal Crossing for it. Im not sure how the friend code thing goes...can anyone help/be my friend on the DS lol Im not great at this and bought it to have something to do in between the classes I take Thanks for you help..

I know about it for the wii one.. so it migh tbe the same.
So if it is you go to the gates and talk to the guys there.
