Anguilla for the day?

I would like to visit Anguilla when we are at St. Martin/St. Maarten. A few questions for those who have done this:

1. Did you need a passport, or was a picture id (and/or birth certificate) sufficient?

2. Where is a beach that has chairs and umbrellas for rent, along with a clean bathroom?

3. Did you arrange an excursion to get there, or did you take the ferry? If the ferry, from Marigot or ??

Any information or advice would be much appreciated!

You will need to fill out an immigration form before you get to Anguilla. They were available on the ferry going over.

We went to Mead's Bay which was incredible. There is a small restaurant which had bathrooms available. Not sure where you would rent umbrellas but there were chairs with umbrellas there.

The ferry we took left from the same dock where the Magic was. It was a short walk. We did this as part of the Dolphin excursion but I'll bet you could just pay for the ferry.

Not sure how transportation is from the dock to the beaches. We had bus transportation as part of the excursion. Seems to me there were some taxis and rentals available.

We went on the Disney Dolphin Encounter too. Great excursion but expensive. You can take ferry from dock where the boat comes in or you can go to Margot and the ferry ride is shorter. Do a search for Anquilla; there is a great website. It really is a beautiful island. Excursion goes to Meads Bay Beach which is great.

We chartered our own cigarette boat from www.offshoresunsations.com. Anguilla is beautiful. The first thing we did when we got there was check through their small customs office. Birth certificates were fine. If you visit the site, click on testimonials, we're the family from Des Moines.
