Day 5

This was to be our non disney day in which we would explore Paris. Although this was my third time visiting Disneyland Paris, I had never actually been sightseeing in Paris. Usually I would be in the parks. Dsis had been in Paris quite a few times and had arranged to take over the organising and planning for this day. We were going to take in the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre.

Dsis is extremely relaxed and easygoing,:) and announced we would have a sleep in and get the bus at 12pm and have plenty of time to see all we wanted to see in Paris. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Needless to say we did not make it to Paris at all. We missed 2 buses waiting for people to get ready, and decided to go to Val de Europe and La Vallee instead. :rotfl2:

To be honest I was not that disappointed as I was secretly planning to head into the parks later for the last few hours. This was not going to happen either though. :rolleyes1

We finally made it to Val De Europe for 3.00pm. We did some some shopping, explored La Vallee and I picked up the VIP discount book from information. :cool1:

To my delight I found a 30% discount coupon for the Dream Castle Hotel. This was definitely going to come in handy.

We spent a couple of hours going in and out of all the shops while DD13 went into overdrive in an attempt to get me to spend as much money as possible.

Unfortunately for her even the items on the sale rails could have been bought back home for half the price. :scared1: So we chose not to buy too much.

Before we knew it we had lost DB. We searched in a few shops to no avail before heading back to the main Mall. We had said before hand we would stop for some groceries at the Auchan supermarket before we went back to the villa, and there we found him waiting patiently.

The Auchan supermarket was huge and we easily spent almost 2 hours here. The bakery section offered lots of little treats and I bought lots of the various french pastries which I had developed a serious liking for. I can highly recommend the strawberry shortbread, this must be one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted.:goodvibes :goodvibes

By the time we got back to the villa, it was too late for the disney parks, so we made a nice meal, and visited the jacuzzi and steam baths again, and it was requested I take back over the role of planner. I am a very serious planner and usually have everything timed and very well organised. I like to try to get as much as we possibly can get done. :yay: :yay: I quickly discovered this week that those principles can be hard to apply when your in a group (that doesn't just consist of your children). :rotfl:

There had been a few jokes this week about me getting my sergeant major's uniform on. :rotfl: Well tonight everyone agreed Dsis included that there are benefits to having someone who “has it all planned” :woohoo:

Isn't it funny how they don't appreciate the planning until they see what it's like unplanned. I think my family truly thinks they just happen upon all those magical moments...it's OK, I secretly call it a "Mary Poppins" moment...just keep pulling all those things we need, magical times, out of my "bag of tricks".

Oh but so true !!!
Without my countdown to the time for leaving to get the bus, we missed 2 buses i n a row :rotfl2:

Each morning I woke everyone up except DM and I gave a countdown when it close to time to go. From 30 mins, then 25 right down to 5, then I gave strict orders WE MUST LEAVE NOW!!!

It was the only way to get us all out of the house and on the bus. :goodvibes

Some mornings this was met with laughter, and some mornings people felt a little tiny bit pressurized.:rolleyes1 That was until today. :lmao:

Everyone was up and ready to go the next morning when I gave the order :rotfl:

Its nice to go with family and friends to disney but im a bit bossy when it comes to organising ,but I think by the end of the holiday they relise that with out me they wouldn,t of got to do or see half the things so they are thankful !!!! im going alone with two 11yrs this year so HOW bossy will I be:rotfl: So well done for getting them up and out:woohoo:

Shame you didn't get to Paris. I never really plan but then again I don't go in a massive group. Although there have been times where we have missed out on maximum time in the parks.

Planning is the way to go but we have found that sometimes you don't have someone who takes the lead and everyone is too polite to make their views heard and you end up doing nothing.

Lots of standing around saying things like "Well what do you want to do next?"or "Well I am easy just whatever".

:lmao: not during my disney time :rotfl: its just too precious, I agreed to have 1 non disney day out of 7, every single disney day was well organised even the hours set aside to wander round the parks soaking atmosphere and just looking at all the sights.

Usually I plan trips with just my husband and I or just my friend and I and I do all of the organizing/planning.

It was a whole different ball game to do disney with mother in law, sister & brother & law and nephew. Good for you for keeping your sanity! And you DO need to be a bit of a drill sargaent.

Great report!

Couldn't agree more about the planning - my DH had been laughing at all my planning and research .. until we got there that it.

Then he realised that if we hadn't got a plan we would be lost and have no idea where to go or what to do and would lose hours just working out where to go next.

At least it was a non-Disney day so you didn't lose any valuable park time. I bet no one calls you a sergeant major tomorrow! ;)

Fab report! I agree about planning! This was our 2nd trip and I felt a bit more organised about everything whereas last time, we just didn't know what we were doing and went with the flow and found that quite a bit of time was wasted.
