Is anyone as excited as I am to get your Angel Tree boxes this weekend. We have enjoyed the box from February and are looking forward to this month's box too.

Our church participates in this too!!! It is so nice to have a great selection of items to choose from and a great value too!!! It is very affordable and palatable!!! Did this one come with a ham? I hope you enjoy it, We did not order one for this time, but I kind of wish we would have.............

It doesn't come with a ham this month, but I am excited about all that is coming in the box. It does give us a great variety at an awesome price! My sons are EXCITED about the "magic" box. They help us pick it up and think it's just cool that we are getting that much food at church.

I got my first box in February. I was so excited to do this, but was disappointed with the food. It did not look like the food in the pictures. The steaks did not look good -- the meat was brown. The roast was tiny -- the size of my fist. We did like the vegetables though. I had read here that some people had really good desserts. We got little packages of cookies that looked like the kind you get at the dollar store. I'll check the menu each month and maybe give it one more try.

Yes, I meant Angel Food Ministries. Here Angel Trees are needy kids who get presents at Christmas time.

Our food was exactly as described. We got pumpkin pies as our dessert so I am not sure what happened with your box. Sorry you had such a bad experience

I think they must have different distributers for different parts of the country. I heard everything was nice quality so we tried it out. I'm also in NM and the quality for the meat products especially was awful, some of it verging on inedible. (the meat loaf mass of goo comes to mind and just the other night I thawed the pork 'chops' which were really chunks of fat with tons of bone shards and a little meat.) Really liked the shelf stable milk though! I'm glad the quality is better in other parts of the country and maybe the quality is better for the boxes of stuff other than the basic box.

I am really sorry you didn't have good experiences with the Angel Food boxes. I actually ordered the basic box, and it was great. I expected fatty meat, but it was LEAN Maybe it is a regional thing. I was more than pleased with our box. I do agree that I like the shelf stable milk. It is nice to have.

I have never purchased from them before. I have seen them but just assumed they were not for the public. I am going to check into my area and see if any of the local churches are still selling these.

I have ordered before and trust me, it is not nearly as nice as what is shown on the website.

We were disappointed in the grocery items, but some of the meat was nice. We only ordered once because of this, I can get better deals with coupons and get food my family will eat.

Does anyone feel "guilty" about getting these. I understand that I don't know anyone's situation, and please don't take this as me being insulting, but I kinda feel guilty. I feel like if I can afford to go to the grocery store and purchase it I should save this for more needy people.

We dont eat pork or breaded ( of fried) items so the food options do not help us much. I looked into the price and for the types of food we eat, i do better hitting our local Winn Dixie using coupons ( wich they double.

I don't, it for everyone that wants to participate ( at least that is what they advertise at church), we also purchase extra and give them away to someone that can't afford to buy one. From what I understand, it doesn't take away from anyone, Anyways, we get good boxes here at our church and the food has been great!! I have not heard anyone bring their box back due to the quality or lack of quality available. I am so sorry that some of you did not get good stuff, I would take it back and ask for it to be replaced or refunded, money is money and very hard to come by these days and church or no church, you have a right to good quality, wholesome, nutritious foods no matter WHERE it is purchase!

Thats how I felt but I called and spoke to my local rep, they said they order boxes based upon the amount of people who order. Actually the more people that order the cheaper they can get the items and $1 per box goes to the local church or community center where they distribute the boxes.

I was reassured that I shouldnt feel guilty and that it was and is for everyone.

Look at it more like a co-op. There is no income requirements and they don't 'run out' . They just order more stuff to cover whoever orders. Also, it is beneficial to small churches as they get a dollar or 2 per box. I think it's a good organization (although there was sure some wicked investigating go on awhile ago), I just don't like the quality in my part of the country. You are not taking anything away from anyone in need.
