While we have all these return threads I thought I'd add to the discussion.

A few months ago I returned $60 worth of stuff to JC Penney's (with the receipt). The Visa bill came, the credit wasn't on there. I called, they said it could take a couple of weeks to post (?). So I waited some more. Still not there. I went to the store & showed them my credit slip from the return. They had to investigate, it took several hours (I left, they contacted me by email), and told me the "credit got voided" for some reason. I asked what time it was voided, and it was several hours after my return. I don't know if the clerk was dishonest, or what happened, but they issued another credit. I'm so glad I kept my return receipt. I now keep my credits in a file and verify they get posted.

I work for a Credit Union, you wouldn't believe the number of claims we see. Lots of "mistakes". It is a good idea to keep good records.

Somebody entered your credit card number from your receipt. Next time, be sure to give them your actual credit card so that they can scan it. Then it, goes directly back to your credit card.

Oh boy. A few months ago I made a return to JCP and it didn't show up on my statement either. I just assumed that it didn't make the cutoff date. But then I forgot about it until I saw your post and now I don't think I remember seeing it on last month's statement. Guess I'll be hunting through receipts this weekend!
Thanks for your post.:thumbsup2

I didn't think there was a store out there who listed the whole credit card number on receipts anymore.:confused3

Many stores store cc numbers on their servers. The bar code # on your receipt let's them link your cc to your return. Also let's them lookup your purchAse without a receipt using your cc#
