So last week was our crappiest week of the year we have to face. We being myself and my two precious girls. All in one week we face my husband's birthday but also it was the 3rd anniversary of his death. Quite a few of you have read our story so I am not going to rehash that....still painful honestly. Anyway I knew by Monday of last week I absolutely did not want to be in our house the actual date of his death. So of course my brain is on overload and just trying to plan somewhere....anywhere....at this point to escape to. The thought of Florida briefly crossed my mind but I knew the chances of getting a room and finding our airfare was pretty slim. So I talked to my closest friends and got their thoughts on all of it. Needless to say I could only think of us being able to survive it by going to our happy place :) I called on Wednesday and we landed in Orlando on Thursday at 2pm!!! That is the quickest trip I have ever planned and especially so far away.
So between DVC and Owner's Locker our trip was the exactly what we needed for last week. It was the first time back to Disney with just the three of us and that was so awesome to not have other family members to please ya know. We had some very magical moments in the past days at Disney! The three of us decided that every year from here on out this week would be at "home" where we can escape from reality and immerse ourselves into each other and some magical memories. We are so grateful for the gift he left us and if it were not for DVC we would not have been able to pull this trip off!
Just wanted to share that even in the midst of the worst storm for us Disney magic came through and we survived!

You are blessed. Glad to read you are able to rebound and recover.

It was lovely to read that you and your two princesses shared some very magical moments at your DVC Home, we hope and pray that reality will soon get easier for you all and wish you and your princesses a very Happy Easter.

Disney Magic can help to heal all sorts of wounds. So glad it was there and available for you and your daughters. Wishing you and your family many years of magic.:grouphug:

Our heartfelt sympathy to you & your girls as you travel through your grief and build your new reality. It's so hard...we all go through this (or something similar) at some point--and for me, I know the sympathy helps...

I, too, posted here when I "crawled off" to Disney after my dad's death last year...it still rather amazes me how the site of "pure fun" could also be where I found my most soothing/healing. And, it didn't interfere in any way with subsequent "pure fun" trips...

This, I think, is a hidden benefit of DVC membership--Disney can be so much more than a "vacation" or "pure fun."

It's different for each of us, of course...

But am so glad it was there, and that DVC allowed you to take advantage of it, during your rough spot.

Prayers going your way...

Hugs to you and your girls. May Disney help heal your hearts.

First of all :grouphug: and prayers to you and your princesses. And wow! What a huge amount of pixiedust: to get those details worked out on such short notice. I too use WDW as my escape and it never fails to provide that escape. What a wonderful way to build happy memories at such a difficult time each year. Love the plan to spend this time at the happiest place on earth each year. I will pray for your grief to ease as time goes on.

Good things like this happen to people who deserve it--and you deserve it. Your story is incredibly touching. I am a father to two little princesses myself, and you inspired me to give them a few extra hugs today.

I too have used my DVC as a place of healing and remembrance. It is such a beautiful place and it truly feels like home:cloud9:

What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing. So glad that DVC is giving you a chance to heal and make new magical memories--even on short notice!

It must be very difficult to express in words what you are feeling but I must say you did it wonderfully. I'm so glad to hear that you and your daughters were able to have a special family experience together. This is a nice reminder to cherish the special people in our lives.:)

May God bless and keep you and your family -- so glad that you were able to come "home" as a balm for you and your girls. Peace, and a pinch of pixie dust, be with you.

I Walt only knew what this magical place would mean to people, he would be so proud princess:princess:princess::littleangel:

Ty everyone for your kind words. It is nice to share on here because other Disney fans understand whereas my family and friends think we are nuts :)

:)

So happy for you. The last time I was at the Flower Festival was with my Mom two years ago. She passed away in Aug of 2010. I am returning this Mothers day and am hoping to feel joy and relive the memories of that May she was with us. Disney always manages to make me feel the magic.

That is wonderful. Blessings to you and your family and continued strength and perseverance. :goodvibes
