It's now been nearly 3 months since my shoulder surgery and nearly 3 weeks since I have been out of my brace and able to have 2 arms instead of one. I didn't want the surgery, I didn't ask for it, and I really don't like the thoughts of 5 months of physical therapy and not being able to pick up a baseball for another 2 months. Therapy stinks. Most of the exercises I'm stuck doing barely able to move my arm or find a pain free zone. The thoughts of lifting a camera to my eye and holding it steady brings a shudder down my spine. The doctor said this was going to happen. I'd get frustrated and depressed and ticked off and want to tear my arm off and beat the therapist to a pulp. I'm just tired of not being able to do things. Trina could sense this was going to be a problem and in her infinite wisdom she did something wonderful and cruel all at the same moment.

"Jeff, you have been working very hard trying to get back into shape and doing your exercises. I especially like the one where you have to dust the tables in the house. By the way you missed a spot in the dining room."

"grrrrrr"

"So to celebrate your loss of 17 pounds when you were forced to eat right handed and to give you something to work towards I ordered a Nikon D200 for you!"

"Wait, what did you say?"

"I said you look good 17 pounds lighter."

"No the other part. You ordered me a new camera? Where is it?"

"Oh it is on back order. They said it should be available some time this spring or summer or something."

"Where did you get it? Can I call them?"

At this point she handed me a phone number which I called. And called. And called. And called. Until the camera shop threatened to turn me over to the Federal Communications Commission as a telemarketer if I didn't stop harassing them. Finally, this morning I received an email (I think the vendor got caller ID because they quit answering the phone when I called). My camera has shipped! And just so I would quit bugging them, they gave me a tracking number so I could call Federal Express and see when it would arrive.

Now I sit staring out the window like a puppy waiting for the kids to come home from school. Each time I hear a car drive down the street I rush to the door to see if anyone stops in front of our house. I am driving my family insane and Trina has begun to reconsider whether this was a good idea in the first place. And she wonders how much longer Federal Express customer service will survive with me calling to tell them I really did need my package to arrive absolutely positively overnight and where was it. So I guess I will wait and continue to refresh the tracking screen on fedex.com and curse that those vehicles do not have web access and that I don't have the driver's Instant Messaging account to see how much farther he has to go before he gets to my house.

Jeff

It's awesome, and the price was incredible..

actually I shouldn't joke about this, I just bought a Minolta 7D today and paid to have it overnighted because I am never patient when awaiting new photo gear, so I will be pacing tomorrow at work, driving everyone nuts until my camera and lens arrive... :smooth: :smooth:

This sounded like me last Thursday waiting for mine to arrive. It was coming via fedex and I saw a van coming down the road and I ran out the door...only to watch it drive by.

Then DD was helping me look for the driver since I kept pacing the house. About 3 hours later, a regular white van pulled up (no fedex sign, nothing). Apparently they are the home delivery vans and the ones with Fedex on the side are going to business's. He laughed when I told him that I went outside running like a dog when I thought it was going to stop here. I'm sure it made a nice joke around his office.

Are you sure we're not related?

Heck, when my UPS man came to deliver my computer, he thought I was running out to kiss him. I'm always excited for my deliveries and I HATE having to wait. The UPS man is my best friend. He made the comment about how he likes coming here since he never has to worry about walking to the front door. Such a funny guy...

I sure hope Jeff, hasn't been back because he's busy playing with his new camera, and not because he was arrested for harrassing fed ex..

my new camera was just delivered about 30 minutes ago, going to leave the office early today to go play...

So I paced back and forth waiting for FedEx to arrive. The web site said it was on the truck for delivery but don't ask me where it's at. Still no sign and I am totally freaking out. I was hoping that it would arrive before 4:00 PM yesterday so I could take it to the Diamondbacks home opener (oh what a struggle that would have been - new camera in hand and ballgame on the field. That may have caused my head to explode). But the 4 PM deadline came and went and no sign of the white and blue truck.

This morning I am up at 4 AM unable to sleep. I was standing at the front porch watching the stillness of the early morning. Trina awoke to find me missing and came downstairs to see if everything was ok. As she came outside to see me staring off into space she asked, "is your shoulder bothering you again?"

"No, I thought I heard the Federal Express truck and I ran to the door. I was afraid he would just leave the dreaded note saying he tried to deliver but no one was home. I hate that note."

"Jeff, when they say they deliver before 10 AM I don't think they meant that they start at 4 AM. It's not even 10 AM in Bermuda yet. You seriously need to come in the house before the neighbors come out and see you in your Diamondbacks pajamas and your Goofy slippers. It's been hard enough for me to explain why we have a Diamondbacks flag outside of our house and why the top of our Christmas tree has a Diamondbacks hat instead of a star. The looks of you in those slippers will start a mass exodus of the neighborhood."

"I like my Goofy slippers. I like that when I wiggle my toes it makes Goofy's nose wrinkle. I was thinking of ordering that ventriloquist book on the Internet so I could move my feet and make Goofy talk."

"Ok, I need to call the doctor. He needs to either change the dosage on your medication or write you a prescription for other kinds of therapy."

So reluctantly I went back in the house and now here I sit at the front window again. It's almost 10 AM, maybe I should call FedEx again. Maybe they forgot where I lived.

I'm not asking for much, just a delivery of 3 small boxes with my Nikon D200, my 70-200mm/f2.8 VR lens, and my 17-55mm/f2.8 lens. That's reasonable isn't it?

Jeff

I think I just saw them pass my house this morning...it still may be awhile till they arrive there.

Hope it arrives soon....you're gonna love it!!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Ahhh, stalking the Fed-Ex man..been there, done that!! Um, also the UPS man and the mail man.

I bet he has your boxes right there on the seat next to him and he is just laughing and having a ball thinking of you sitting there at the window, jumping at every truck that goes by. Evil in his eyes knowing you will be his last stop for today...on purpose!

Hope he delivers soon....for his own health..LOL

ENJOY!

We ALL know the feeling!!

I had a "Notify when in Stock" at B&H Photo for the D200 for a couple of months when I went into BestBuy and found one in stock!! I was shocked!! They also had one of the cool new 18mm - 200mm VR lenses. I was sucked in and gave up the plastic!!

You WILL enjoy the camera!! It's awesome!!

Surely, the boxes are there by now! Give us an update, Jeff!

BTW, how was the game? Home Opener for the Cardinals was AWESOME!! GO CARDS!!!! :thumbsup2
