Anaheim Weather in Late November

I have a trip planned for my DGD6 and myself from Nov. 20 - 26. We've recently returned from a very nice stay at HoJo's in July but after averaging over 10 miles per day for 5 days in a row, I thought I might do my feet a favor and try to stay closer in November. I've got reservations at both HoJo's and BWPPI and I'm trying to decide which one to keep. I don't want to hold on to the rooms any longer than necessary and keep them unavailable for other people. After mulling it over for a while, I've decided to do what will make my DGD6 the happiest and stay at HoJo's (because she LOVES Castaway Cove), but I would hate to do that and then have her not able to use the water area because of the weather.

Does anyone know historically what the temperature range is in Anaheim in late November? I know the weather really can't be predicted, so I'm just looking for a ballpark figure.

Last visit in 2012 I went the first week of December, and while I forget the temperatures, the mornings were cool, but I felt warm enough during the day to wear a t-shirt and jeans, and it got pretty chilly at night (definitely needed a hoodies/ light coat!) I found the weather to be PERFECT for a disney visit. I think you'll most likely be warm enough during the day to use the pool, but might want to schedule it during the warmest part of the day (maybe noon to 3)

Sometimes its a bit cool and sometimes even rainy. But then again it could be 80 degrees everyday and only cool at night.

Its a roll of the dice. The days will be shorter and its definitely going to be cool at night so you might want to pass on the Hojo if your just staying there for the pool.

It honestly could be anything! We went 4 year ago and my kids needed heavy winter coats in the morning/evenings and it rained a full day. The last two years have been great and we've gotten away with tshirts and jeans during the day and a light sweatshirt in the mornings/evenings. We did go swimming the last two trips (all of these Thanksgiving week), so it's definitely doable mid day.

Thanks everyone! She's just 6 so a mid-day break is a necessity because I like our trips to be free from all crankiness. We always take at least 2 hours out of the parks every day to have a bite to eat, run off some energy (hers!) and take a little rest. I was weighing towards HoJo's again for her, and because I do not like outdoor corridors, and the weather just became the deciding factor. I knew I'd get good info here - DISers are the best!

Stayed at HoJo's once and had the same experience! One night I had to hire a taxi to take us from DL back to HoJo's. For me personally I would never think of doing swimming in November in SoCal. Here is some data:

Unless this weather pattern changes it will probably be warm in the afternoon and colder at night. I grew up there and remember many a hot Santa Ana wind in November. I would stay with the pool you like. I am sure it is heated as well.

As a lifelong Southern California resident I can honestly say that I've seen everything but snowfall in September-December -- and this is even just in the last 10-13 years, not to mention earlier than that! There could be heavy rain. There could be light rain. There could be really cold air (29 degrees at night is cold for Anaheim, and that's what it was on one of my December nights last year). There could be heavy wind, heat and dry air, or heavy wind and cool air. There could be a nasty heat wave. There could be overcast skies and a nice, reasonable 70-degree day.

January used to be one of our rainiest, wettest months. That seems to have eased off a bit in the last few years, to the point where sometimes we get hit with more rain in February and March than anything that happens in January.

That said, if we get the "El Nino" weather pattern effects that we are supposedly getting this upcoming winter, we could be in for a rainier-than-usual January (or it could be delayed until the fall/winter of 2015).

If the rain bypasses us in January, I would expect fairly chilly, dry weather at night (probably in the 40s or low, low 50s), and most likely daytime temperatures no higher than 75, at the most, and no lower than 60 (and that's really pushing it). That seems to be what it averages out to be in January (without actually looking at the chart of averages, but just remembering the weather reports on the local news!).

We went 2 years ago the week of Thanksgiving and while it was never HOT, it got to probably 79; the lowest was probably 69 (during the day). We are staying there the same week this year and have every intention of swimming at the DLH pool. The pools are heated, so I'm not overly concerned.

OP here... thanks, everyone, for your feedback! I've decided to stay with HoJo's and if my DGD6 gets to enjoy the waterpark, then great, and if not, we will still be at a nice hotel with a very short walk to the parks. I think the tipping factors were probably the lack of indoor corridors at BWPPI, and the fact that we just had a very nice recent stay at HoJo's.

I'm looking forward to the relatively cooler weather in November after just visiting the parks in July.

Thank you! Have you ever been to DL when it rained? Is the rain accompanied by cold winds? We're coming from the Seattle area, so it will probably be better regardless.

I was there last year in November with my grandkids and they swam everyday. Weather was great. Also we stayed at HOJO and used the Anaheim transit. It's very reasonable in price. We paid something like 6.00 for 3 days. Picks u up in front of HOJO and let's u off in the round about.

Once or twice it was a situation in which the rain was very light (the most recent time being one of my December trips, I think), but it was still necessary for an umbrella or hood or something, and the winds were not bad at all.

On another occasion years ago -- in November -- it was pouring heavy rain and was very windy. My friends and I had to eventually duck into World of Disney to get out of the rain.

Then, on another random occasion in September seven years ago, there was a messy downpour, with a small bit of wind -- umbrellas were useless at that point, and despite ponchos we got soaked anyway. It dried up suddenly and became hot and sunny -- like pull-out-the-sunscreen-and-sunglasses sort of sun! Then it started pouring again! And then it was warm and sunny again. My friends and I were so frustrated on that day because we had no clue whether to pull out the ponchos or the sunscreen, and we were soaked at several points. The lines for most rides were very short, but when we got on something like the Buzz Lightyear ride we found ourselves sitting in small rain puddles left behind by the previous guests, which was not fun!


A lot of people love being at DLR in the rain, solely because the crowds vanish!

Haha! Wow, how confusing. We have never been to the the DL, but we've been to WDW many times. I think it would be awesome to have less crowds. We are a bit worn down from crowds. I am a big WDW fan, but I hear that the DL is smaller and offers special touches WDW does not. I'm really looking forward to seeing!
