Trying to book.... we need a CLOSE WALKING DISTANCE room. Any opinions on this place? The first few choices are all booked up.

I don't think this is a walking hotel -- at least in my opinion. You get enough walking in the parks.

We stayed there last September with our five kids and we walked back and forth at least twice every day. It never took us more than 10 minutes to get there. My kids never complained about the walk either. We could have taken the shuttle, but I think it would have taken alot longer. I will definately be willing to stay there again. We're going the first weekend in May and we're staying at the Disneyland hotel this time. I'm so excited I can't think straight!! LOL!!

I just stayed there last week, with my 3 kids (ages 5, 3 and 1). My five year old and I walked there and back (2 twice a day). She never complained and I enjoyed the walk in the morning (found it quite relaxing). Plus the breakfast was pretty nice (on nonearly entry/character breakfast days). Also in the afternoon (Mon-Fri) around 530 they do a snack for the guests. I'd stay there again. Hope this helps.

We have stayed there 3 times now and enjoy the walk. We do take ART if we a very tired when the park closes. The breakfast is great, the rooms are nice and large. They have free grocery shopping which helps with the meals in the room. Would highly recommend it..we are a family of 6.

We stayed here last year for our DL trip (after we left the motel from h*ll). It was close enough to walk easily. It was OK, nothing spectacular. We did have to switch rooms because our first one had a broken bed. (The bed kept coming off the frame.) The pool was OK. The breakfast was also OK. The front desk staff was friendly, our room was clean. We thought it was an OK hotel, not really worth the $125/night we paid, but it was a short notice move. We never would have paid that normally. I would stay here again, if I could get a better price.

when you say on non-early entry days is that because the breakfast starts too late?

The breakfast starts at 630, so if you want to be in line by 630, you really can't have breakfast there, for EE. Mind you that we were there when the park opened normally at 8 am. On nonextremely busy days the schedule is changed a bit. I should have prefaced my statement with that, sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

I like the Residence Inn Maingate. If you go to the FAQ thread stuck at the top & then click on hotels, there is a description of it with pictures.

For the 6 of us it is better than 1K/night plus expenses at the GC. We always did breakfast when it open and the managers special at night if we were not in the park. Had a pillowtop mattress and always something in the fridge without having to make the trip for us. That price you payed is very lowend for our group.

Have a great evening,
