DH has an event in Anaheim that will take us for a weekend, but due to the nature of it, we won't have a full day to go to DL. And I'm not paying the price for a full ticket if we can't go for a full day. :rotfl:

So I thought - who knows better what ELSE there is to do in Anaheim than the people on the DIS Budget Board?

Any suggestions?

It's just DH and I - no kids. Any recommendations for places we should eat, etc too. We're basically looking for something fun to do to make the weekend a little special, but not V&A special. We don't mind spending a bit on things that are worth it though, so even if something isn't "budget," go ahead and throw it into the ring! :)

We always try to get to an Angels game and the beach (usually Huntington) when we're in Anaheim. We've also toured the Queen Mary in Long Beach which was less than 30 min. away.

Man, I'd have a tough time being in Anaheim and not going to DL but I wouldn't pay the one day price either (even if I had a whole day) ;)

Outside of Knottsberry Farm is a really nice shopping area and the Knottsberry Farm Restaurant(not sure of the actual name) has the most amazing Chicken Noodle Soup! Man, my mouth is watering just talking about it.

There is a Medival Times down there- It's a dinner show, set in the days of the knights, with jousting, etc. They serve food you eat with your fingers, and encourage loud and raucus behavior. It's not for everyone, but it's a hoot. There is also a water-park outside KBF. I think there are some outlet malls, too. Oh, and KBF Restaurant is FABULOUS!!! Famous for their fried chicken, too. I highly recommend it. And you do not need to enter the park for access.

We live here in Southern California. I think that you have some good suggestions. I did not see if you have a car or not.

Near Anaheim:
Knotts Berry Farm
Medieval Times
The Block of Orange - shopping area with restaurants
Downtown Disney
Anaheim Angels Game.
You are near the Home Depot Center which is where the Ducks play hockey, but they have a ton of concerts there too.

If you have a car:
Beaches, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach are my favorite.
Universal Studios (about an hour away)
Universal City Walk - right next to Universal Studios
Irvine Specrum - entertainment area with movie theatres, tons of restaurants, and shops
Downtown LA has a garment district, Chinatown, etc (during the day thing)

Let me know if you have any other ques.

Thanks so much!

We're actually in LA, so the stuff closer to LA is the usual for us anyway. And yeah, we'll be driving down, so we'll have a car.

The KBF stuff sounds really good. And I'd really love to do Medieval Times at least once but I think I'd have to lie to DH to get him there. :rotfl:

The outlet malls/shopping sound perfect for me while he's at his thing... cause I know he'd rather miss out on the shopping. :rolleyes1

I'm totally going to try to talk him into Medieval Times though. hehe

There is also a Pirate Show/Dinner near Knotts Berry Farm. I would google Buena Park attractions, that will bring up Knotts, Medieval Times, and the Pirate Show, there are a ton of things like that.

There is also a nice restaurant in Huntington that is on the beach called Duke's (Hawaiian themed). Downstairs on the beach is Savannahs, more casual type restaurant, you can walk around downtown Huntington Beach on Main Street for other options too.

There is a Chicago restaurant called Portillo's that opened up a branch in the mall across from KBF. Very yummy food! My kids love getting their cheese fries and a Chicago style hot dog. They have great Italian beef sandwiches, huge filling salads that hit the spot on a hot day and some great desserts too. We like the strawberry shortcake. You could probably find the menu online. When we drive up from SD to go to DL, we try to go to Portillos. Much easier than flying back home to Chicago! It's fast food service so you get your food quickly and it's budget friendly.HTH!

I am sure that mall has changed I havent been in there since 1979

Another vote for a KBF meal... their fried chicken is SO. GOOD.

Also, South Coast Plaza is a fun shopping destination- I love to go there every so often. You might also peek into the Disney Character Warehouse...
